03/20/14 EDIT: It's been almost 5 years since I painted this piece. To honor Super Metroid's 20th Anniversary and study how much I've grown as an artist, I gave this a full visual overhaul. Please enjoy the upgraded painting here!

EDIT: YES I know it looks like Lord Zedd meets Ridley. No, it was not intentional since I didn't reference anything for his design. I had to actually go look up Lord Zedd after all the comments just to see what the fuss was about. But I was just bored with previous iterations of Ridley and wanted to do my own thing. Giving him an exoskeleton just seemed fun.

To more or less prove my line of thinking in his design, check out the first linework here: fav.me/d2airs3 After everyone said he looks like he's wearing whitey tighties I had to upgrade his armor a lot.

At last I've finished it. I've been working on it as much as possible for a month, and my eyes are bleeding.

Here's Ridley, from Super Metroid. He's the fourth in my Metroid Bosses series, and my magnum opus of all digital painting to date. I sketched it out in Photoshop CS2, and went back and forth from CS2 to Corel Painter 10 in the painting process. Hope you guys like it!! I poured everything I had into this one

The glowing thing in Samus' hand is a last ditch power bomb, inspired by the Halo 3 diorama here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjhSp7…
