Description English

Dedicated to all people who disable comments on their deviations...anf therefore restrain our freedom of speech.........Nah, just joking , it is known that a lot of hyena deviants are walking around there, waiting the good occasion to scrap your art and all the stuff, so disabling comments can spare you a lot of inconveniences.

Maybe I should disable comments on this stamp....

Animated stamp.

Francais

Stamp anime.

Lovely stamp. I love the expressions and smooth look. :3

I can sometimes see why comments would be disabled, including if the deviation is a hot-button topic. Anything involving shipping wars/politics/religion/etc. has a tendency to invite what I call seagull commenters: they swoop in screeching, making a lot of noise, shit on everything, and then fly off. It's not always about "YOU'RE STIFLING ME" and people need to realize that not everyone wants a fight.

or note you or harass you on a different image I find it easier just to block or hide the comment but that's just me

opinion aside, the animation on this stamp is wonderful!

Love this one. And yeah, it's true, because I have experienced this happening with comments I receive as well. But for now I'm just using "hide" button when such comments appear in my page instead of disabling them completely. After all I have lots of great friends in DA and some people give me useful critique on my art.

This is simply awesome. The animations nice and smooth. And I love the smilies, their very expressive and bring the point across perfectly. Over-all, a great piece of work, and one awesome stamp.

But an awesome stamp non the less!
I also like the way you have enabled comments for this

I think you should disable the comments for this stamp, for the humor... but I appreciate it not being disable because you deserve some epic comments! One improvement you could make is turning the stamp green to match dA a bit better. c:

Cryobash In reply to Pokeapache [2010-10-07 16:40:47 +0000 UTC]

I just wanted to keep a kind of clean-shiny-silver-like background, as a kind of personnal touch. The grey tones gives emotes more impact, and bring more attention to them, I think. Thanks for comments, anyway.

Almost-Certain In reply to ??? [2010-10-04 16:29:04 +0000 UTC]

On the other hand, disabling comments means that the people who grief you or abuse their right to comment are taking something away from people who agree or support the artwork. If the people spamming the page don't have a valid point, then other people will be able to say that. There are also cases where disabling comments makes the poster seem ignorant or like they just don't care what anyone thinks. Maybe there should be a screening process or something, but not just a 'block out the world' button.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cryobash In reply to Almost-Certain [2010-10-04 16:44:05 +0000 UTC]

This is true, but such kind of filter (block unsupporting comments and let supporting comments on screen) would looks heavily like censor. With "only" the ability to hide some comments, the process is.....smoother I would say: selective, but not as atrong as censor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Almost-Certain In reply to Cryobash [2010-10-04 21:29:22 +0000 UTC]

But it has an affect on the 80% of people who want to raise a valid point or say something that isn't spam or insulting.

Greybird007 In reply to ??? [2010-10-04 16:22:49 +0000 UTC]

More dA members than ever now either disable all comments on their work, or routinely hide every comment they get, on their own profiles or elsewhere.

Yes, these options are occasionally necessary, due to personal or functional reasons. I've turned off comments on my postings of two commissions of my OCs by other artists, because those artists' own postings deserve them instead.

Yet this anti-community anti-comments trend needs anything but additional encouragement, either in creating a stamp such as this, or in a DD being awarded for it.

Exillior In reply to Greybird007 [2010-10-04 23:13:38 +0000 UTC]

Some people I know disable comments because they are very busy and know they won't have the time to handle 1,000+ comments. It does actually save people from spending ages on comments that will just be completely ignored. Maybe? No?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Greybird007 In reply to Exillior [2010-10-05 04:50:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, maybe. If they state this plainly on their profiles, that they forbid comments because they won't or can't answer the vast numbers they expect (and that they assume their art will provoke), at least that's more honest and open.

Yet I've had to wonder why anyone who's that busy is bothering with a dA account in the first place. Comments and interaction are most of the point of this site. For a static gallery without interaction, it'd be better to set up one's own Webbed presence, controlling all the visual and verbal variables.

Exillior In reply to Greybird007 [2010-10-05 15:27:56 +0000 UTC]

It is for me too, but maybe some people want to be able to share their work... despite not being able to reply to 1,000 comments. I mean, look at `yuumei 's page. She does read every comment, but I wonder if you would personally stop sharing your art with people the minute it starts to receive that many comments?

Cryobash In reply to Greybird007 [2010-10-04 16:28:43 +0000 UTC]

That's a point of view, I respect it.

And so far, I never disabled comments on any of my works.

NooniePuuBunny In reply to ??? [2010-10-04 16:20:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes. If you disable comments, its for good reason. I agree 100%.

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

rarkorn In reply to NooniePuuBunny [2010-10-05 00:17:40 +0000 UTC]

Unless you've purposely uploaded something offensive or spiteful and then disable comments to avoid complaints. In that case, disabling comments is just a cowardly move.
There are those that have good reasons to disable comments, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NooniePuuBunny In reply to rarkorn [2010-10-05 13:35:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but if its hateful and spiteful, I thought it was against TOS, and should simply be pulled down, in which case, comments won't be disabled for long as the work won't be up for long.

I've seen comments disabled on a few works that were simply sensitive subject matter (like gun control, religion) because people were coming on spewing hate at the uploader, and they didn't do it to be spiteful, they were being expressive of their personal views.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rarkorn In reply to NooniePuuBunny [2010-10-05 13:44:52 +0000 UTC]

What about those works that a meant to be spiteful and offensive, but are expressed in a very subtle way? An artist's intentions are never easy to figure out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NooniePuuBunny In reply to rarkorn [2010-10-05 14:22:00 +0000 UTC]

Never thought of that. =_= But then again, its not something I'd do myself so that may be why.

I can understand if you're posting something saying "Hey, this is my view and who I am, I don't apologize for it", take a lot of flak, and then disable the comments because there are too many misinterpreting it or just spewing out ignorant hate about it.

If someone did it just to lash out at a particular group/person but tried to disguise it as mentioned above, then I guess it'd be another kettle of fish.
