Description AYEAP. Is it pretentious to do this unless you're a famous artist? >_>; ..Because nobody really cares who your influences are unless you're stellar? :/ Is that true? Oh well. I dunno! I like to look at everybody's maps~ I did it partly because the question made me wonder. Had to think a long while about what's influenced me. And then I thought I'd like to give a little bit of credit where credit is due. And then I just thought it would be fun, so I did it.

... I owe almost my whole artistic beginnings to Sailor Moon. In K-6th I drew nothing but cats. In 7th grade I drew my first Sailor Moon and wellll, I definitely owe my human-drawing beginnings to that. Jem pretty much ties in with SM.
... Of course, fairy tales. Who hasn't been inspired by those? And spending alot of time in the woods has definitely influenced me. (Though made me no better at drawing backgrounds.)
... Johnathon Earl Bowser was my first encounter with paintings of beautiful women (of that caliber) and I idolized him for years, going to his website over and over and over again, staring at these gorgeous women in fantastic settings. Well, I still kinda idolize him..
... Adam Hughes MUST be the most influential person on these things, right? lol Who doesn't list him? He's my new idol.
... The HERO System gets a mention here because almost all of my original characters were rolled up for HERO games. I'd rather roll thirty 6-siders than one 20-sider! HERO for life! 8D (Queue the pen&paper wars...)
... Gil Elvgren is like my.. vice idol. I mean.. second to Hughes. lol I've been obsessed with that guy's art for a few years now.
...Disney, dur. Every girl between the ages of 5 and 45 has been influenced by Disney, right? I mean, if not in art, then in life.
...~mofuwa , I discovered maybe... a year ago. I dunno, but she's incredibly amazing. Her colors and the personality in her characters are definitely inspirational to me.
...J Scott Campbell came in a few years ago for me and I've been studying his art a bunch in the past two years (though I'm sure it doesn't show).
...J.W. Waterhouse. The master of romance and myths!
... Kenneth Rocafort has become a big influence on me in the past year. I adore his drawing style.
...Knights and random fantasy stuff, obviously. Haha.

So that was fun and maybe kinda cathartic and slightly pretentious? Oh well..

I'd love to do one of these sometime for the same reason as you---just to stop and think about it. I really see the kenneth rocafort and campbell influences the most. n.n

You should definitely do it! It was really interesting. It's nice to think and look back into your stuff to see who exactly influenced what, and it gives a nice perspective on what else could influence you. If that made any sense... lol

God why is every time I see J Scott Cambell's work I shudder and hiss in disgust over his waists XD I just don't like his work and it bugs me when I see people copying his style *there are a ton of artists who draw horribly skinny waists so it's glad to hear that you moved on from that.

Anyway awesome influences anyways.

Haha, yeah, it was getting a little crazy there for a while. I was drawing waists like wrists! lol Thanks~

What I hate is when the waist goes in really skinny and then instead of going wide again they just put the hips on and it looks like the hips is eating the waist.

No problem.

I owe my foray into art to Sailor Moon as well. It's AWESOME how much that influenced so many people.
(I'm not sure that's the best pic to use as an example of J. Scott Campbell's work, considering how RIDICULOUSLY narrow Red Sonja's torso looks...that stuff just bugs the shit out of me)

You forgot Poupeegirls!

Haha, definitely. Sailor Moon (I guess) was probably one of the first syndicated anime shown in the US (besides Dragonball and a few others, I think) so I think for alot of people (especially women) it was their first taste of it. lol I think part of the reason I used that one of Campbell's is because I used to draw women's waists that thin! lol I look back now and think "omg, what was I thinking"? However small his women's waists are, I still adore them and he makes it work alot better than I did. lol x) AND YEAH, I actually meant to include Poupee in here but totally forgot. x_x lol

I don't think it's pretentious -- as a matter of fact, I don't care! I LOVE seeing where artists get their influences from What's hard is having to narrow down your influences (and then a week later, say "OH NO I FORGOT ABOU THIS HOWCOULDI??????)

You're the second person to mention Jem though XD (first one being...me...*mouse squeek* ).

x) lol Yeah, I do too! And I like evaluating just how much I can see of the influences in the artist's work! It's fun! Oh, you have Jem in your map?? *goes to look*

Interesting, I can see a little of each throughout your work too.

Thanks! I wish I had a little bit more Jonathon Bowser in my stuff, to be honest. lol

Yea but I think your style reflects you pretty well. All your work consistently stays in that style so when someone see's it they will think back to Fristfruits or whichever name you want to go by.
