Description
My version of some classic fantasy creatures. There critters may or may not appear in my book, we'll see.Salamander
Reptilian fire beast, the salamander lives in volcanoes and volcanic ashlands. These creatures are covered in though, fireproof skin, and swim through lava as if it were water. Salamanders have a high body temperature, product of their high metabolism, that makes everything the creatures eat burn in a matter of hours. The craters on their back release the smoke resulting from the combustion. These reptiles are nearly always hungry, and can sustain on both flesh and minerals. Minerals are a favorite of them, since they take longer to combust, yet salamanders love the taste of fresh meat. They share the Dragons's love for treasures, but only because they love to eat these precious things. Their body heat makes them able to breathe gusts of flame. Salamanders live in packs, but they have no real organization, attacking the targets with untold ferocity. An adult salamander measures 1.80 meters when standing upright.
Basilisk
Basilisks are lethal creatures, nightmarish horrors that inhabit everyone's dreams. These serpentine monsters live in vast deserts of their own creation, since the toxic substances they essude are able to kill off vegetation all around them in few days. That same venom is secreted by their fangs. Since all life withers in their presence, Basilisks have, with time, developed a natural hate for all other life forms they see. This unnatural hate has giving them the ability to kill any living being that dares to stare in their burning gaze. Looking in the eyes of a basilisk completely melts the brain of a creature, resulting in instant kill. The creature then consumes the melted soup, its venom reducing the corpse to dust or sand. There is no known antidote to Basilisk's bite. An adult Basilisk measures 7-10 meters in lenght.
Thunderbird
Majestic creatures birthed by the sky, Thunderbirds soar high above the world, their wings carrying them along the currents without much effort. Anywhere a Thunderbird goes, black clouds seem to follow it, lightning bolts illuminating their majestic blue bodies. The clouds are created by the beating of their wings, which creates a particular voltage that attracts clouds to the bird. Thse birds are able to command the thunderclouds following them to unleash thunderbolts to strike their enemies. They are solitary creatures, meeting only to mate. Mating rituals between Thunderbirds often provokes hurricanes. An adult Thunderbird possesses a wingspan of 2-3 meters.
NOTE: yeah, another version of the basilisk. I promise, this is the last one. That, for me, is a basilisk.

All well-done designs, the Salamander especially.
Salamander:
Good explanation of these creatures' behaviors and physiology. That appetite for minerals may even bring salamanders into conflict with dragons and other treasure-hoarding creatures.
Basilisk:
Simple design, but I like it. It definately has more of a snake vibe than some of the previous designs.
Thunderbird:
A bit plain in design, but it's a refreshing change from the eagle-like thunderbirds we're so used to seeing. And with mating rituals like that, no wonder thunderbirds are so rare. LOL

Thanks, I had a feeling it would be ;D.
Salamander:
Thankya. I'll update it shortly to be more detailed and exaustive. It does, belive me, even if they'd better not threaten a dragon's treasure XD.
Basilisk:
Thanks. I thought a Komodo Dragon-esque look would suit more, even if I still like the mostly dilo look.
Thunderbird:
I wanted a new, fresh look to it, and Thundra from Aladdin was helpful in that. LOL

Salamander:
Oh well, I guess they could just bully some drakes for their treasures instead. XD
Basilisk:
I personally see more of a skink look in the Basilisk, though I know what you're getting at.
Thunderbird:
I remember so very, very little of that show, so I can't really relate to that. LOL

Sorry for being so late.
Salamander:
XD Could be, could be...;D
Basilisk:
About to post a more dino-snake version, stay tuned!
Thunderbird:
A green-feathered bird of paradise/heron hybrid who controls the world's weather, not much XD

Thunderbird reminds me of Corvo.
Otherwise, love the reptile heads.

Well, both are considered 'thunderbirds', in the end.
Thanks AK.
