i always wanted to draw all three of them XDbut i drew suicune, raikou and entei more realistic and they're holding their elements in their paws^^
i just love how suicune came out
but i think i messed up enteis colo a bit...

Well I think their appearence is based on cats as you can see on Raikou. Never heard of a sabertoothed dog, and those legendaries are always the same species (pixies, golems, whatever). But I also support the idea of them being based on mythical creatures like Kirin, Shishi and Raiju. Guess they altered Suicune into a cheetah to fit to the others as its powers are similar to a kirin.

and may i ask you some thing this was a long time ago but you know how now they say Arceus is the pokemon god is it just my mind thinking this or alog time ago did they say ho-oh was the pokemon god you seen 2 be still in 2 pokemon but i stoped watching cuz thay just seem 2 do the same thing over and over sorry don't mean 2 be rude if you don't feel the same way about pokemon

Ah no don't worry. Though I love PokΓ©mon I only like watching the episodes until Johto (aaaand Sinnoh episodes because I like the Platinum version XD)
But you're right, it's almost the same every episode...
Well, I think Ho-oh is more like a phoenix. Arceus created the universe and with that the world and PokΓ©mon like Dialga and Palkia. I guess Ho-oh was called PokΓ©mongod because it could revive 3 PokΓ©mon back then. And I guess because Arceus wasn't officially known.

i see.. and how dumb do you think it is that people say Entie was Flareon Suicune was Vaporeon and Raikou was Jolteon i mean the old man right you next 2 the burnt tower say's 3 nameless Pokemon died... not a Flareon a Vaporeon and or a Jolteon i mean you can talk 2 him in pokemon crystal Entie Suicune and Raikou looked like that from there birth

Hm... I'd rather think of common PokΓ©mon like Ratata, Oddish or another PokΓ©mon that searched for shelter.
But as it's not said which PokΓ©mon died in the fire I think none of the opinions is wrong. What speaks for Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon would be the kimono girls in Ecruteak City as they have Eevee's evolutions. Guess that's why some people think it could have been those 3.

Actually, Suicune is supposedly based on a kirin or qilin, the Chinese unicorn, while Entei seems to be a sort of guardian lion type thing. You know, like those statues. Raikou, however, is very obviously a saber-toothed tiger. They're referred to as the 'Legendary Beasts' because they are not one set family.

Well I guess you're right.
But in my opinion they're based on cats BUT the legend behind them should be what you mentioned. In anatomy Suicune for example doesn't share many traits of a kirin/qilin except for the thingy under it's chin. It has paws and its anatomy is really close to that of a cheetah. But when the legend is concerned it sure has similarities with a kirin/qilin. So basically I devide legend and appearence.
Or let's say to me they LOOK like cats (Entei also looks like an erupting volcano XD) but the legend might be what you said (and Raikou is based on a raijuu, which can have the form of a tiger; Raichu is also a raijuu in form of a mouse).

Well, Suicune's antlers alsoresemble the kirin's in a way as well, and kirins can walk on water, but I do see your point. I actually have a Raikou named Raiju. Or at least, that's what I call him. He's the shiny one from the wifi event.

I guess they altered Suicune that much so that it would fit to the others.
Usually the trios are of the same kind (the golems, the pixies, the birds...), so I think they wanted them to look as of one kind as well...

they're actually called beasts in the original version
and if you look at them...you have to admit they're cats
look at Raikou...i mean i don't think that any dog has this kind of teeth and those stripes on it's fur look like those of a tiger
and Entei was described as a lion in the third movie
and Suicune is a cheetah...if you consider the speed, the pattern on it's fur and the body...

but it seems that it has been confirmed they're cats (but i don't really know because i just read it in someone's comment...he said that Nintendo confirmed that they're based on cats)
but i watched the english trailer for HG/SS and you can hear Raikou roar like a tiger XD (i watched it several times because i can't wait for those games to come out X3)

Gold and Silver were the best games in my opininon (and of course Crystal XD)
they had so many new things...
i don't really know what to think of Diamond, Pearl and Platinum
they weren't bad...but i missed something (but i don't know what XD)
and somehow i like Team Galactic XD (don't ask me why XD)

I've rarely seen all three of Johto's legends in one picture, and I think this is one of the best out of the ones I have seen. I read through the comments, and I have to say, I've always thought of them as dogs, so I may have some bias affecting this comment. I like how you show the natural phenomenom asscociated with each of their elements. I really like the effect that you used on Suicune's element (I can't remember if it's wind or water, but it works well either way). The lightning in Raikou's paw is looks great, especially the bolts coming off the orb. There were a couple things that bugged me a little. The first thing I noticed was the aurora. It's well done, but something about it feels off to me. I can't put my finger on it though. The thundercloud under Raikou doesn't quite seem right to me either. I think that it lacks a "wispy" effect, but that may just be me. I have to say, even though every Suicune I've seen was canine, you really did a good job making it as a feline. The only thing that I can see about the Suicune is the whiskers. As I said above, I've always seen the canine versions, and I'm not very knowledgable about cats, but the whiskers seem to be shorter than the other two's. Maybe it's the perspective, my bias kicking in, or my lack of an accurate mental image of a cat, but that's what I see. All in all, this is a great drawing. I'd give it a 9 out of 10, but once again, that point may be from my bias. Good job!

i think those were the things that bugged me a bit, too
the aurora doesn't glow or is a bit too dark if that was the thing that bothered you
the cloud under Raikou was done with a trick that my father told me some months ago (i actually had no real idea how to do the cloud as i had a pic with a lightning in my mind ^^'
normally whiskers of cats are longer but that didn't look good to me and i made them a bit shorter
for me those 3 are cats XD
i may be wrong with that but well i like that idea more than the dog idea^^

I'm glad you're finding what I'm saying helpful. Also, I just saw the sprites in ruby, and I think you're right, they do look more like cats. Oh, do you want me to give you advice on your older drawings? I've looked at them and can see that you've improved a lot since you posted most of them, and I don't really feel that it would be fair if I told you that something looks off when your more recent pictures look better

though i know most of the mistakes i made
but i wanted to "remake" 1 or 2 pics so i think it would help me anyway^^

well it's a bit difficult to draw an aurora (at least at the beginning)
but as i can't draw Suicune without aurora i think i can improve there too^^
i can tell you what i'm going to draw next
it will be a human Suicune
on Animexx there are contests (you can't win real prizes but it's funny) and i found one where you have to draw Pokemon as human
the person who started the contest is a great artist in my opinion

That's a really cool drawing! Oh, and don't worry about how good your comments are. I really have to look at your pictures for a while, and then I take a good ten minutes of writing, looking back at the picture, revising, and then repeating that until I'm satisfied that I have a real idea of what's good and what isn't quite right. There's an FAQ on how to give good advice somewhere in the FAQ section, but I forget where. It really helped me out, though it is focused more on drawings than on writings. Anyways, I really look forward to seeing what you have to say! I appreciate any feedback, so don't worry if you aren't totally sure what to say. I have to go to school now, though. I'm actually thinking I'm wrong about the time I need to go (there are two lunch periods, and I don't know which one I have). Hope to hear from you soon!
