Description

Ever since I discovered Blind Channel thanks to ESC 2021, I got somewhat obsessed with the band. They struck a nerve. Some of their inspired me to create pictures with some original characters since the lyrics seemed fitting to them. And along the process I thought I was done after six images - then Flatline happened (I know - it's been a while). And after listening to it about four times, I had another image in my mind. So here's the final one, No. 7:

Dorean really cracks it when it comes to the appearances in this series. It kinda fits his more or less constant longing for attention. But he's far more than that - I think I rarely created a character as complex as him, where every detail matters in a way. In this case, I chose a situation where he gets into contact with the stuff that the universe is made of. Although he desperately tries to afterwards, his mind can't process it. Therefore, his struggle with all the information becomes a struggle against madness, leaving him mentally unstable, moody and exhausted. So apart from him living his nightmare, I especially like the line "I can not hear the music thorugh all the moodswings" - up to that point, he was an aspiring musician, but inspiration fails him on all the mental clutter he has to deal with.

Chronologically, this happens before the accident that leaves him with the burn marks that can be seen in the first picture .

I kinda lost my mind over this picture, too, but it's not hte only one from this series that this applies to. I somewhat had a similar composition in mind, but a different art style, in fact. I didn't want to deviate from the rest of the series, so that picture didn't quite turn out as I had in mind. I still like the result, even though not everything seems right and even less seems to make sense (fits the madness, right?). I managed, though, to stick with the colour palette I planned from the start. Which is awesome because I rarely use red tones. I wouldn't deny that I got influenced by the music video and also reused some of the motifs as I considered them fitting.

I tried several methods to highlight the orbital lines around the head - the paper didn't help me there, so it might look a bit wild. And as for the whole series, it is absolutely unforgiving when I try to take a photo in good focus - it keeps on being blurry. And it's too big to scan. So I'm terribly sorry for blurs and quality losses. I tried my best.
