Ever since I discovered Blind Channel thanks to ESC 2021, I got somewhat obsessed with the band. They struck a nerve. Some of their inspired me to create pictures with some original characters since the lyrics seemed fitting to them. Here's No. 2.:

It's two old companions from my gallery - well, okay, not really. But there's pictures of both of them.

The guy on the right is the same Dorean as in picture no. 1 of this series. And some time ago I sketched good ol' Ray . At some point in their lives, their relationship becomes quite complicated and is more or less literally described by the song lyrics (except for hotel rooms and Bahamas, maybe...). Darkness becomes a play on words in this context, since Dorean uses to control darkness and he's the one running after Ray. On the other hand Ray struggles a lot with the ghosts from his past, so he's got his own darkness to deal with in his mind. He's afraid that spending too much time with Dorean might destroy them both and he's probably right, but he can't push the other away. He's so desperate, whereas Dorean doesn't understand what's going on and tries to make sense of the shadows that cloud his mind.

Could be the one that this is the picture in the series I'm least satisfied with. I feel like I couldn't capture the complexity of their struggles. And the composition sucks a little: I missed the tension between them and the dynamics, no matter how hard I tried. I started several attempts to get my (bad) idea (sorry not sorry for THAT pun) on paper and this was the only one that worked out at all ... so far. Maybe I'll try once again another day...

I wanted to leave in the open who is responsible for the dark flames in the background. Maybe both of them?

As for the whole series, the paper I painted on is absolutely unforgiving when I try to take a photo in good focus - it keeps on being blurry. And it's too big to scan. So I'm terribly sorry for blurs and quality losses. I tried my best.
