Description

Ever since I discovered Blind Channel thanks to ESC 2021, I got somewhat obsessed with the band. They struck a nerve. Some of their inspired me to create pictures with some original characters since the lyrics seemed fitting to them. Here's No. 1.:

"My soul is in shreds tonight is a tomb

Poets are liars but I know the truth
Roses are dead
Violets are doomed
Lovers don't know how to love but they know how to wound

[...]

And I just lie here like this

Left to die
So many times
That deep inside I think I might deserve it
I walked through fire
Somehow survived
Now I don't know if I'm alive or only burning

Alive or only burning"

- from Alive Or Only Burning by Blind Channel

Listen to the song here if you like.

The character in the picture is Dorean from my elementarists project (still kind of a work title until I find a better name). A dark fella, literally, whom life isn't treating all too well and it's often not even his fault. More than once, he gets in serious danger. But most of the times he's collateral damage to his twin brother and therefore seldom at the center of attention - "left to die" indeed. He comes to the conclusion that this is how it is supposed to be.

At one point, he actually really gets too close to an explosion, leaving him with burn scars on the right side of his body and a lot of confusion.

And that's basically why I consider these lyrics so fitting.

Obviously, I finished this one at the end of 2022 (oh my...). I still really like the look of the flames.

However, though, the paper I painted on is absolutely unforgiving when I try to take a photo in good focus - it keeps on being blurry. And it's too big to scan. So I'm terribly sorry for blurs and quality losses. I tried my best.
