so yes, I've been away for a while because technical problems and stuff but now I'm back.now in a semi-related note, let's say, if your hard disk start clicking and making sounds like crazy, does that mean I should be looking for a new one? my HD is like 7 years old btw.

Astonishing your HDD lasted that long. When you used to be able to get a warranty on a new HDD for 5 years, most only go up to 3 years now because they aren't as likely to last 5 years.

Yes, those sounds mean your HD will most likely die a sudden and most inconvenient death when you need it most. I would suggest all your data abandon that sinking ship and jump onto a newer bigger HD in a complicated and/or expensive procedure immediately before you wake up one day and your computer just doesn't boot up any more and you need to take it down to over paid lazy bums posing as computer experts who will look through all your stuff and make comments on all your downloads while they transfer the data and hold your computer hostage for an entire week for a one day procedure.

My findings have been that if your hard disk starts clicking in ways you normally haven't heard, you probably should already be getting as much of that data onto another hard drive already..
I had one die on me in mid-transfer. Only lost a bunch of mp3s from some of my own CDs that I'd ripped, so no biggie. Just took forever to re-rip them.. >.<
