so yes, I've been away for a while because technical problems and stuff but now I'm back.now inΒ a semi-related note, let's say, if your hard disk start clicking and making sounds like crazy, does that mean I should be looking for a new one? my HD is like 7 years old btw.

SSDs are faster, but ridiculously more expensive and have shorter lifespans.
Magnetic platter drives can last a decade or more if you keep it tidy and keep an eye on the SMART readouts. I'm still using the old IDE drive from the computer I got as a graduation gift over ten years ago.

On the topic of your HDD, yeah, I'd say get a new one. You can get a pretty big one rather easily, I bought mine, which is 1 TB, for about 30 euros if I remember correctly.

Yeah, like others have been saying at that age, unless your motherboard has SATA ports you may as well just get a new computer. New ones don't come with IDE connections so you may need an external USB enclosure to transfer data from your old hard drive to a new one. Assuming your HD is IDE.

Your hard drive is, as many others have already stated, about to die. I would recommend a new computer due to that one being seven years old, which is very impressive. If you decide to try and findΒ a new hard drive good luck, I could not find one that would work in my four year old machine when it died. On a more personal noteΒ I find it sad that they don't make technology to last anymore, my family has a computer from '92 that would still run if the moniter didn't dieΒ five years ago.

I would say yes you should start looking for a new on, cause that one seems to be on its way out. I would suggest a solid state hard drive because they last longer than normal, and they're just faster in general, but the downside is they're more expensive
