The man pictured here,examing his recent delivery with a certain amount of skepticism,is Captain Action ...an action figure introduced in 1966 by Ideal Toys,he was their answer to Hasbro's G.I. Joe .However,unlike the various military uniforms worn by that character,the Captain was able to disguise himself as famous superheroes and adventurers,such as Superman,Batman,Spiderman,Captain America,Aquaman,The Phantom,The Lone Ranger and Tonto,Flash Gordon,Buck Rogers,Sgt. Fury,Steve Canyon and The Green Hornet (each costume sold separately,of course). He eventually got a kid sidekick (Action Boy) and a nemesis (Dr. Evil),but for whatever reason he never really caught on,and was discontinued in 1968.

This lead me to imagine such an adventurer existing in today's superhero world.
