Description
In Lewis Carroll's classic Alice In Wonderland, two of the main characters are the King and Queen Of Hearts, but Carroll never mentions whether there are man-and-wife monarchs representing the other three suits found in a deck of playing cards...so I've created them, using as a visual starting point what is probably one of the most famous versions of the story,Walt Disney's animated film from 1951.Several years ago, when Tim Burton's version was set to be released,I seem to recall that DeviantArt had some sort of contest which involved creating art inspired by the story. I actually had this idea well after the contest was over. It's been in the back of my mind all this time, but what with the sequel to Burton's film coming out later this year, that's what most likely got me thinking about it again.

Now that's a fine pair of monarchs, and my favorite of the bunch has to be the king of spades due to cartoon like head anatomy. The more cartoony a human character looks like, the more personality.

Thanks for that...I drew inspiration from Disney animation artists, since I wanted them to fit visually with the King and Queen Of Hearts, whom I included.
Oh...and for the !

No problem, like I see the late 1920's to Termite Terrence 1963 closing as a golden age for animated cartoons when it came to character disigns based on their personality. Even comics like Asterix and post 1970 animated works like Animaniacs along with the Spumco episodes of Ren & Stimpy follow that trope. Even with that said, it would be nice to see a mainstream American cartoon follow those visual tropes instead of having a blank Cartoon Network look on the characters with generic sitcom writing.
