Ever since I did my own version of the Haunted Mansion's iconic stretching paintings some three years ago,I toyed with the idea of creating an original quartet.Whatever ideas I had or roughs I created were put on the back burner---until I learned of mansionfans contest,and I thought,"Hey---why not?"
I've always thought the late Marc Davis was a genius,but creating these gave me a new respect for the man,as I discovered just HOW difficult it was to come up with four comically macabre scenarios,AND make them fit in this same vertical format.Borrowing from Davis,I did two men and two women,one of which isn't in any mortal peril.
