Haha! I posted a walkthrough here: [link]
If you have anything you want me to explain let me know! I'd like to make a part 2 but not sure really what to go over. Any suggestions?

Photoshop is a wonderful program. Illustrator is my favorite but its harder to get used to. Best of luck!

I really shoulda got illustrator up last night so you knew what I was talking about. I think it's the fills. The only thing that comes to mind is one of the options is woodgrain? Sorry thats not a lot of help! It puts a pattern on top of a shape, but sometimes not exactly. Like you could fill a circle with dots for example, but the millions of dots would become one object? Sorry if you have no idea what i'm on about, i think i'm explaining pretty bad.....

Do you mean how some of the filters like hang off the edge of the shape? *scratches head* I am a little confused by the explanation hehe...

Yeah, like patterns and stuff. I tried using that texture thingy but i find it hard to get right. Do you use masks? I don't get them either and finally, the pencil tool doesn't draw what i draw, do you reckon this is because i'm trying to draw the whole thing in one go instead of using line strokes????

cubecrazy2 In reply to boredatwork [2006-11-17 00:38:08 +0000 UTC]
I know the pencil tool is hard one to use... I rarely use it. I love the pen tool
As far as textures, do you mean the brushes or the fills or just anything and everything texture related?
Masking is something I don't do much of. I used it a lot in video, but I never really use it too much in vector art... unless I'm thinking of a different type of masking you are used to. But yeah... I have an itching to do another tutorial. I'll have to see what I can do with my crappy lap top...

Oh yeah, effects are way different in illustrator and photoshop. Its sometimes good to jump bakc and forth between the two. I like to do all my inking and base colors in illustrator and shading in photoshop, it really just depends on what needs to be done. THe combo of Illustrator and photoshop is unbeatable

The stuff with the Bezier points was very helpful! That tool is also in Flash and I've never been able to figure it out. I always wanted to write with it because that looks really cool.

Awesome! Yup flash and Illustrator have many similarities and Illustrator files can be imported into flash like a dream. The two programs together are glorious!

I thought it was really fun to read, and very imformative. I'll definitely have to play around with it-- I believe Illustrator is somewhere on my computer. Now, how do you save your vector art? PNG, GIF, JPG, etc. Just curious. Apples are good. Raspberries are better. >:3 Just playin' around. But it does look like fun!
Do you use a tablet, or just the mouse?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
cubecrazy2 In reply to ZebraRaine [2006-03-19 20:49:38 +0000 UTC]
Awesome! Thanks! I'm glad you had fun
I always save two files, the .ai (adobe Ilustrator file) and .jpg to finalize/print/edit in photoshop.
I just use the mouse... I'd like to get a tablet when I get some $$ saved up. Tablets are sooooooo oh so nice!

ZebraRaine In reply to cubecrazy2 [2006-03-19 21:04:49 +0000 UTC]
I'd like to eventually get a tablet too. I'm not really serious about my art (even though many people think I am, since I buy so much art-related stuff), but I think it could be a lot of fun!

cubecrazy2 In reply to ZebraRaine [2006-03-19 23:22:37 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes! the tablets are so wonderful, If I had one, I'd probably use photoshop more often
