Description Sorry for the super-bigness, but I wanted to make sure it covered most questions people ask me. XD
It's a replacement for that older tutorial that I deleted a while ago because of its outdated fail levels.

Here's the lineart if you with to follow along:

XDD I was just looking for this XDD And after FINALLY figuring out a lineart technique I been trying to crack for almost five years, I got a couple of things to ask XDD;;

1. Do you do all your flats colors on one layer?

2. About how many layers do your CGs usually take you?

The other thing is that I was wondering if you did do all your colors on seperate layer if you knew you could lock the transparency of your layers, making it a HELL of alot easier to color lineart and even seperate layers without having to distrput much else XDD Especially with your blush teqnique XDD Think of not even having to worry about messing with any of the features besides her face!

XDD I use photoshop 7.0, but I believe this was the same in CS3 that used in college last year... been awhile since I used CS3 but anyway, above where your layers are, there was a part that said "lock:" and had a few options you could lock: Transparency, pixels, movement or all (in PS7, anyway like I said, I think it was very similar to CS3, though) clicking on the lock transparency option allows you to only edit the pixels on that layer... so you could skip the select and delete step for the blush altogether! XDD the only downside is manymore layers, but it can also make soft shading WAY more easier I just wish I could have figured it out before ... like 2 hours ago... I have nothing to post up for anyone yet ;^; But I also hope that this means my lineart for pictures will look alot less crappier XDD

Haha yes I know about transparency lock. Personally I like to keep very few layers, since my comp tends to start lagging near the end of some of my pics as is. Plus it doesn't matter much with the CG style I usually use. My layers generally consist of (from bottom to top) flats(including lineart), eyes, shades, blush, highlights

XDD I see... that makes sense ^; I guess I'm used to lags I know my computer does lag, but I've never had a decent running computer XDD;; Though it is very interesting to know hoe you work! ^^ it makes me apreciate your stuff so much more ^^

*Sigh* >: I really want too try this style, but whenever I set it to bitmap it comes out black and white, I can't make new layers and... half the time I can't even draw. X__X!;

Otherwise, this tutorial is very helpful. <3 Thankfully I know how the Pen tool works! XD

CubeWatermelon In reply to Lunaros [2008-01-24 01:12:48 +0000 UTC]

the idea is for it to come out black and white. I forgot to mention that afterwards you should set it back to RGB color

Aaaah~ Okay! XDD
Thank you~! ^__^
It still won't let me make new layers, though. o_O (Or draw... XD) It's probably just my computer or something... >>

The pen tool? Holy sweet Jesus Juice!
All this time, I've been doing all my shading by eyeballing it and using different colors.

This should help me tons.

Thank you much!

CubeWatermelon In reply to Selecthumor [2008-01-18 03:39:02 +0000 UTC]

oh poo I read that wrong. unfortunately, paint shop doesn't have something like the path tool to make selections with, so you'd have to use the straight-lines lasso tool to make the selections :/
