Description I mention this: [link]

Anyway, this is basically just for the sake of answering some random questions I get quite a bit. Not really a tutorial but I didn't know where else to stick it. I also fear sounding like I think this is some sorta professional method, but it's just how I do things as a noob.
It's also a preview of my 4-page at-night SDL duel vs 's Ryoko! Which I need to work on the other 3 pages of now >3>

Ummm what else.. sorry about the large file. Also, people ask me about inking alot, but Iunno what to say. Make sure to ink each individual line in a single, steady stroke? o__o It's just a practice-related thing I guess...

I've been trying to work on my paneling and such lately to make it more dynamic. ( o A o ) ; I also started this comic in media res for once because it's totally hip!?

Question, how do you get the fill tool to look that nice? I use Photoshop, and this is what it looks like if I use the Fill Tool:

[link] It makes grey areas around the outlines

So I use the pen tool to select where it needs color and then Brush it on, and that turns out like this:

[link]

(Lawl, the first one is when I first started drawing/coloring using Photoshop, and the other pic is when I first started using Shadows xD)

So what settings/what do you do to get the Fill tool to look that nice?

[link] explains it better as the text states, my lines are pure B+W so there's none of that extra gray area. The cause of that is generally your tolerance being set too low, so that the fill doesn't want to go far enough into your soft line area.

Oh, I forgot, you actually line it on paper. That makes sense. Thanks! : D

o3o um the fill tool. Is the text to the right on that vague?

perplexingPariah In reply to CubeWatermelon [2008-10-19 01:54:10 +0000 UTC]

Wait, there's a FILL TOOL? Do you mean the paint bucket tool?!

Uhh... I guess it would be vague to some people that may not know A LOT about photoshop. XD

XDD ok, I seen this mentioned before, but is there a particular reason you select instead of use channels? XDD;; I was only wondering, because if it affects the outcome in a positive way, it could be worth the trouble

Oh yeah, how do you make your lines so dark with that great quality? D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CubeWatermelon In reply to charisima [2008-10-15 00:27:29 +0000 UTC]

It's because I scan it as a bitmap that it's all very start black and white. I also make sure to set the contrast semi-hi when scanning so it catches all the linework and leaves out some of the extra garbage 'A'

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

charisima In reply to CubeWatermelon [2008-10-15 01:22:53 +0000 UTC]

Lol now if only my lines were so crisp and perfect D:

AleksanderZee In reply to CubeWatermelon [2008-10-15 00:39:31 +0000 UTC]

*tries out bitmap/semi high*
So its not always a good thing to scan in at high....
Ive been using channels to separate my line art from its white bg lately, to clean it up and colour, yr way looks alot more simple....
