Description I'd wanted to do a tutorial for a while, and I finally figured out how to screen capture (yes yes, I know, pretty dumb...), so, I made this one! I'd always been frustrated by tutorials where I got to step #300 and then found out Elements didn't have the right tool/filter. Thus, this tutorial was created. Enjoy!

Oh this saved my butt. I accidently merged all the layers on one of my pics on the PSD file and I usually color with the layers underneath the lineart. I totally forgot about the layer style tab

yeah, i noticed that theres like no way in history to make smooth crisp lineart on ps elements plus my crappy scanner greys the crap out of my line art and it's all jagged and stuff.Great advice on the hair, because i still cant seem to master the hair. im gonna try this. ty

This is the most helpful tutorial I've seen so far.
Other people don't explain certain parts about the layers, but you hit it spot on

It's a good tutorial, but can you help me with one other thing? XD
When I paint, it still goes over the lines.. so that I can't see the lines anymore.
How do you do that multiply? Because I cant see it any where 0o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sirothello In reply to Kay-Bee [2007-09-05 17:01:18 +0000 UTC]

To fix it, you either set the lineart to "multiply" and color on the layers underneath it, or you can make the color layers on top of the lineart and set every single one to "multiply". :3

Amazing! I have Photoshop CS2 and can't color anything as good as you managed to do with Photoshop Elements. And I was blaming it on not having a tablet...

I have Photoshop Elements 5, but don't know how to do the lineart! >< Do you think you could help me with that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrsHellman In reply to CherryBlossoms-chan [2008-10-04 16:46:47 +0000 UTC]

when using elements you can't make those awesome linearts you see here on DA and similar sites, but you can try and use. . . um. . . I have no idea what it's called in English, but it looks like a lasso I can't explain it any better but search for "lineart tutorial, photoshop elements" and you'll hopefully find something! sorry I couldn't help that much. . . .
