Description
EDIT: I forgot to add that I made sure the satellite would be above Canada on the area of Earth that is shown, being Canadian myself. You'll notice Quebec probably, but Ontario is there right beside it. Thanks to one of the commenters who reminded meBEST VIEWED AT A BRIGHTNESS OF 65.
My Home Planet. Earth.
Tools: 3ds max 4, photoshop 5.02
I have dreamed of making an image of what I believed earth would look like from space. This started out with an entire space station above earth, but I wanted simplicity rather than complexity, so I modelled a simple satellite.
I love this.
This was made as an early christmas gift to all of you who have supported me through everything. I thank and love you all
- Josh.
NOTE ON HOW I MAKE MY SPACE PIECES:
Many people DA note me, asking me how I do them.
The most important thing is simplicity. Then experimentation. Simplicty is the key, remember that.

I have always been a fan of space based artistic creations particularly those with a hint of realisim and a hint of sci-fi tossed into the mix. I think you pulled this shot off marvelously. While I think your satellite looks cool I do not think the, what I'm guessing, solar arms have enough reflection in them for that satellite. I am very impressed with the backdrop to Earth I think that is the best part of this piece. That and the fact you can see my home state (Michigan baby!)
Great work!

Fantastic job with the finality of this piece. Just to be a jerk (to most people) may I suggest some space-rocks to throw more 'chaos' into the scene?
This looks great. reminds me of Greg matins early work.

I have several comments, I hope you don't mind.
First, the satellite really doesn't fit. The light and shadow don't apply to the satellite at all, you may need to deal with that especially under such strong sunlight. The detailing of the satellite should also be dealt with too, so that the image can be richer.
Second, the comet is like uncalled-for. It doesn't really add dynamic factors to the image. You have a perspective view, but suddenly you have a comet going across the screen. That's not really a good idea.
Finally, the brightest biggest stars are very strange, probably they should not around the strong light, but throw them into the corners of the image, the darker places.
Hope these are helpful. I like the Earth best, the details of hills and the stratosphere thing are very nice.
good job~~~
Btw didn't you say you were leaving? I knew you won't, I knew it.

i love this. the only thing i could suggest is maybe adding a bit of orange to contrast the blue a bit, making it just that much richer.

nice, but you may want to make the bottom of the satellite sharper. it kind of looks like it is attached to the earth.
