Description
EDIT: I forgot to add that I made sure the satellite would be above Canada on the area of Earth that is shown, being Canadian myself. You'll notice Quebec probably, but Ontario is there right beside it. Thanks to one of the commenters who reminded meBEST VIEWED AT A BRIGHTNESS OF 65.
My Home Planet. Earth.
Tools: 3ds max 4, photoshop 5.02
I have dreamed of making an image of what I believed earth would look like from space. This started out with an entire space station above earth, but I wanted simplicity rather than complexity, so I modelled a simple satellite.
I love this.
This was made as an early christmas gift to all of you who have supported me through everything. I thank and love you all
- Josh.
NOTE ON HOW I MAKE MY SPACE PIECES:
Many people DA note me, asking me how I do them.
The most important thing is simplicity. Then experimentation. Simplicty is the key, remember that.

oh shit, just noticed another major flaw pal. The satelite HAS NO SHADOW on its back. I would definately fix that.

Awesome work here mate, it really does look good. The land formation on the Earth is spot on .. I can see my house in WA from here
The lighting and the starscape are perfect. Very good job with the moon and that comet.
The only thing that seems a bit off to me is the satellite. The model is very good, but there seems to be some depth lacking. I almost thought it was just sitting on top of the Earth. Other than that, it kicks ass.
Keep up the excellent work

It is essentially flawless except for the comet, the tail always faces away from the sun. I know you were going for realism here, but that was the only thing I noticed that hadnt been talked of.
Great Job.

lol thats exactly the way i wanted my earth to look when i made it. I wanted a satelite, but i cant model, and i wanted a closer look at art, but i couldnt cause of hte huge canvases i use, and all that. argh. Anyway, ill rework mine, now that i have some more inspiration to tweak earth. Anyway, its essentially flawless.
mercury and venus are too close though, theyd be much smaller. Um... around the outside of the planet, i can see this faint blue line htat breaks up the glow of the planet. I would take a white brush and brush that out. Other than that, its awesome.

These space shots have become really common and all but you made it original by adding that satellite and also Earth. I took a closer look and I saw the Great Lakes....I live there! Yay!
Great job!
