Description
...but how could we improve without it.I must admit, I do not quite get why there seem people a lot of people
who try to avoid critique.
Progress is in need of failure and usually one is not short of failure
so, as always, criticism would be very welcome
have a great day!

Thanks. I'm glad you like it,
especially since I'm still knee deep in the learning phase for using colors^^

It's a new world! I had a black and white phase for many years, until I dared to start with the colors.
Have fun!Β

I think this is good but don't understand the bright green.......does it ean something? Maybe a bit of shading as if some of the head is left at the back of the skull. I like it.

Cuculum In reply to jennystokes [2018-04-30 20:41:36 +0000 UTC]
As for the color choice, I do know it's a bit risky, but it seemed
to fit the mood at the time.
As for the shading, I wasn't sure, if I should add a bit of the back of the head
and decided, based on the perspective, that it's unprobable that there's
something in view, from this point of view,
but probably that was a bad decision, it could have added some more dimension
Thank you very much for the kindness and the critique!
Have a great day!

I'd like to for sure,
strangely the only 'Hitchcock'-film I've seen so far, wasn't exactly a hitchcock film,
it was just a film about him^^

I like it, you can almost feel the movement from the drawing. I also have to say that colours are nicely put together; shades of green are pleasing and purple seems like a good choice for the shadows - it contrasts, but isn't distracting
π: 0 β©: 1
Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-04-30 20:35:01 +0000 UTC]
thanks. Probably this was my most adventurous choice of colours yet^^
The purple worked surprizingly well.
Yet it's the first time that opinions seem to spread quite widely, if this works or not.
It might even differ quite a bit, depending on the used device (I know that the same colors
are very different depicted on my laptop and my desktop computer)

Hm, yes, different screens display colours very differently - I have that problem when adjusting colour in my watercolour works, I try to always check the picture on my phone before posting it anywhere. Though when it comes to colours people have certain tastes, so it might not work for some people just because I do like this shade of purple and greens so I like it a lot.

cross validation seems definitely like a good idea
Once I tried to color digitally on my laptop instead of my desktop pc
and the difference was huge, of the result as well as the process...
(Oh and I'm sorry that I took ages to answer...
that's when I try not to rush communication in 5 minutes and then
a week passes by relentlessly^^, I didn't manage to upload anything either...)

No problem, sometimes I have a problem to reply to comments as well, I tell myself that my brain is not working properly and besides, writing in a different language? It requires focus, I will do it the next day And I had a break from posting stuff too, I couldn't bring myself to make something to upload for almost two weeks, I think. I don't know how it is where you live, but in my place it was suddenly like summer, not spring. It drained my energy.

Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-05-17 12:18:59 +0000 UTC]
It's strange, the more 'significant' a conversation, or a comment is,
the more likely I procrastinate
and yet the opposite should be the case, but maybe I'm overthinking,
when I don't want to write an inattentive response...
Anyway, yeah, the weather was the same here, even though quick but
intense thunderstorms disturbed the heat (preferably at public holydays^^)
the heat might drain, yet it's a beauty to see the flora and fauna bloom,
apart from the mosquitoes, they don't really make me happy^^
Do you prefer the colder seasons?
π: 0 β©: 1
AdrStefanska In reply to Cuculum [2018-05-18 20:54:10 +0000 UTC]
It's the same with me, it's way easier to write a simple "thank you"
Yes, I much more prefer winter and autumn, though I would prefer more daylight. It's not so hot anymore, the past few days it rained a lot, which is also good for plants (Mosquitoes are the worst, last year, or the year before, at least 5-10 of them got inside every evening up until October-November and one flew in front of my face in the forest when it was -1 degrees, they mutated or something, I don't know -.-)
π: 0 β©: 1
Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-05-20 23:06:24 +0000 UTC]
Fly screens are a blessing. But of course they only help if one doesn't leave the house
I have to say, spring is my personal favorite,
winter is visually nice, but it's way to cold outside and clearing the snow isn't fun either,
I agree that summer is often too hot, which hurts productivity but allows swimming in lakes or the sea,
which is a big plus.
As for the mosquitos, I guess mutation isn't off the table, yet I by far don't know enough to really have an idea^^
but global exchange of species is often also often a factor, for example with slugs, squirrels...
There are quite a few cities here, where parrots live these days, often a local zoo helps them survive the winter.
At least on the parrots I can't complain
π: 0 β©: 1
AdrStefanska In reply to Cuculum [2018-05-23 18:13:56 +0000 UTC]
I probably wouldn't complain about parrots either if they lived near me As for the seasons I think it's great that they change, even if I personally hate hot weather (though swimming outside is a biiig plus). At least when autumn comes there's that first few weeks that feel like a blessing, you just can't get bored when nothing is the same when you look out the window or go out
(I actually like clearing the snow, it's a nice workout
But it's fun when it's manageable, too much is too much.)
π: 0 β©: 1
Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-05-25 00:52:46 +0000 UTC]
Well, not near me, sadly, neither do I live in a city, nor do
the closest cities have a flock...
Hmm, maybe leaving my dwelling is the primary problem, after all
to clear the snow as well as enjoying the seasons.
But I agree, autumn is colorful
and before the world turns bald, it gives a hell of a view
I pity the regions without seasons^^

This is amazing, really like the use of such a limited palette, plus a great composition.Β Like your shading technique as well, I tried something similar once and failed completely so good job!Β

Cuculum In reply to grecioslaw [2018-04-26 11:14:23 +0000 UTC]
Well, I must admit, the color palette is not just limited by choice, but also by the limit of my capabilities^^
Yet I seem to have a fable to bichromatism as well.
Thank you very much for your kindness, I'm glad you like it
I have to remark though, that I could imagine something similar very well with your organic watercolor style

Once again I realize how bad my common knowledge is: I've never heard of him,
but a quick web search helps a lot.
I have to say, his animations are really mesmerizing, the amount of expression and the emphasis is desirable^^
anyways, thank you very much!

It looks great. I can't really think of anything except maybe that the guy looks relatively un-phasedΒ at having a bird burst out of his head. He seems to have a migraine, sure, but maybe by having a more pronounced curve in the person's neck, it would make the bird's exit seem more explosive, as if the man was getting whiplash from it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Cuculum In reply to xLeSpiderx [2018-04-26 11:38:15 +0000 UTC]
You're totally right, both the expression as well as the dynamic
could need some improvement.
The first one is especially dear to me, yet I'm not entirely sure how to emphasis and improve on this one,
For dynamics, it hits my usual kryptonite (Well, one of them) of composition.
Thank you very much for the critique, I see a few things I'd do differently now!

so either I'm at least as slow as you, or that's very natural^^
Thanks again
