Powers: Perillou used all her powers for bad when she joined the Darkbloods and still has trouble mentally trying to manipulate the earth. She grows plants wherever she see’s a bare spot of soil in the forest. Lou never makes plants grow fully after she starts them off because she thinks nature should take its course with all things. It just needs a little push. The tar produced in her mouth is hard for her to control, so most of the time excess tar sticks to her tongue and teeth.

Personality: Perillou is mostly content with what goes on around her. On an average day, she doesn’t really display any emotions at all. She hides her emotions unless agitated, which isn’t hard to do. The Darkbloods don’t bother her much because they know if they do, they’ll get a face full of tar. Perillou finds her refuge near running water (the repetitive trickling sounds calm her).Perillou doesn’t make an extra effort to make friends, but she doesn’t have any enemies either. Her favorite fruits are raspberries, but only the tart ones. Lou sometimes hunts birds or squirrels if
she feels like chasing her food. She loves to lay in cool grass on a warm summers day, or look up at the stars at night. Most of the time she has flowers decorating her antlers because she thinks it gives them a purpose. Even though Perillou seems distant and emotionless, she loves anything colorful or shiny. She despises her parents and never speaks or thinks of them. She doesn’t even know if they are alive, but she knows if she has to fight them, she would without a second thought.

Back Story: Perillou was born to two loving Shinlai parents. Her puphood was full of cottling and pamperment. Her parents were wealthy Shinlai and therefore expected greatness from their daughter. Perilou’s mother, Radoin Vavare, who raised Lou to her image of perfection, never forgave or forgot. Any mistake Perilou made was combated with punishment. At the age of 10 her parents put her through countless practices, trying desperately to improve Lou’s ability to manipulate plants’ growth. Sadly, she did not qualify for their ideals. They resented and shunned their daughter. Perillou grew angry and developed an aggressive and hostile personality. She pushed herself to the limit, learning to relax and let her mind spread through the plants and feel their energy. Soon she was able to manipulate almost any earth related substance she could see. Radoin and her father reacted with kind words and only encouragement to do even better. One night she got into a horrible fight with her mother and finally left her home. She was only 14 years old. Out on her own she felt the thrilling sense of independence and grew still more and more rebellious.
Learning of the Darkblood Revolution, Perilou grew curious and desperately interested. After her failure to her parents, Lou’s only want and wish was to absolutely perfect Earth manipulation. She was walking through the forest and came upon a patrolling group of Darkbloods. Before they attacked her, she persuaded them to believe that she wanted to join the Revolution and learn how to make her element the strongest it could be. The Darkbloods saw the fire in her eyes and proceeded to lead her back to Sunset peak. Perillou learned how to manipulate the earth for her own purposes, like immobilizing enemies with vines or throwing massive amounts of rocks and earth at opponents. One of the things Lou discovered she was best at was the substance tar. The glands in the mouths of Earth Shinlai are used to produce tar. One of the tactics she invented was to hiss, which caused her mouth to dry and made tar form in her mouth. She proceeded to make a final coughing sound, sending a ball of tar at her opponent. Using her now incredibly powerful element, she quickly sent the tar flying at her enemy’s face or eyes, causing temporary blindness from the quick drying tar.
Perillou has since stayed with the Darkbloods, savoring the feeling of revenge towards her parents and being able to finally feel the full extent of her element. She slowly won her way into acceptance from the Darkbloods after discovering an effective way to use the tar glands in combat, making their opponent easier to take down. Lou discovered a side effect from the massive amounts of tar being produced in her mouth and now has to deal with the glands in her mouth secreting tar constantly.

I'm not gunna talk about what a great Shinlai this is(even though it IS!) but she was so much fun to work on! I hope everyone else had a fun time drawing him/her as well This is my first time drawing a Shinlai, so I appologize for the poor Shinlai anatomy.

This took me approx. 6 days to complete, give or take a few hours.
