Description ALSO: Because their predators are either mainly color blind or really can't see well, their pelt colors are really for attracting a mate. They also tend to mate for life. Mating rights are not restricted to the alpha male and female, either. There are also hornless Cernines, but they generally don't last long because they tend to get picked off by predators.

There's one thing I'd like to say:

GOD DAMN.

It took me a long time to piece this reference together, but I'm so happy I finally finished it. I actually couldn't fit everything I wanted in here, but I think I covered all the basics.

This is my own original creature, one that I based my own fursona off of. Everyone is welcome to make their own, but please make sure to credit me and show me a link! XD I'd love to see what crazy designs you guys can come up with.

So, How big do cernines grow to be?
Do they bark, howl or bugle?
The female ones seem like they would be easy to ride since their antlers are almost like handles. Not that they are ridden, or are they?

Silverishness In reply to karookachoo [2011-01-13 03:34:54 +0000 UTC]

lol, I knew I forgot something XD

They grow to about a normal deer's height, (maybe 4'8" at the shoulder?). They can bark, but generally they communicate through lowing and bugling when they're being vocal. However, to avoid predators, it's mostly with body language with the ears and tail, as well as stamping or scoring the ground.

While they do have strong backs, their legs aren't sturdy enough to really be considered a beast of burden. They may be able to carry loads like a donkey, but not a full-grown person, nor are they really tall enough for an adult human either. Maybe children would be able to ride one, and since they are sentient, they're not feral.

Just getting one to AGREE would be a little problematic XD

They must be an interesting creature to hear.

Perhaps faeries can ride them or tree elves.
I can imagine some... disagreement about the matter as well XD

XD They sound nice in my head.

Oh, yeah, someone -or thing- less than 100 lbs or so wouldn't hurt them.

Thanks for the fav!
