Excited as in 'send the Elements to turn hum back into stone ASAP', like the bastard deserves. As for the bouquet, that was from him to her. Not the other way around.

That makes no sense at all. She loved the way he acted having fun. She's never seen real fun. She's always stuck inside her own strict, orderly world. Once she saw what he did, she loved it. She loves his ways like no one else does, but she never wants to express it due to being his opposite.

Discord used to be one of my favorite characters, but after seeing this, Meghan completely butchered his character and made him a whiny little kid. It was so pathetic.
I question this new producer more and more. She started off doing things better, but now everything is much too rushed. Plus Discord's personality is ruined.

Amen, I was so excited when I heard they'd do a world without a rainboom that I thought it's have Discord in control. We'd be given an awesome reminder of how terrifying and powerful the lord of Chaos was... But no... he is on screen for literally less THEN 5 SECONDS. It's official, the writers gave given up on this ONCE amazing character.

Plus honestly his whole friendship with Fluttershy was really unnecessary in the first place. Celestia really should have just handled him herself if she wanted him reformed. Now he's a mess, and I don't even look forward to his episodes at this point like I used to.
His design and everything were just perfect. And now he's not even what he's supposed to be anymore.

Most people here seem to like the episode, but seem to ignore the flaws that were addressed here. I actually did find my past self able to relate to Discord in certain parts of this episode, and Discord was entertaining to at least watch. I myself would put it at around a high C or reeaaalllyyy low B.

Great G1 homage, hilarious references on the same level of Animaniacs, good development for Discord, characters were in character, story was well structured, but Treehugger I don't really have a problem with, she's another one shot character so I honestly couldn't care less. A-

This episode was not good. Sure it had some funny jokes but as a whole, it was poorly done and a little mean spirited.
Everyone in the episode was seriously dumb down. Discord seemed like a whiny little kid but you could argue that "he knows nothing about friends." Twilight was rude to Discord saying that he was going to ruin the party but never went back and apologized to Discord even when Celestia said he "saved it". Also, Celestia was a troll and what the hell was up with her animation and personality, she turned into Pinkie Pie for a second. Treehugger was a total asshole to Discord, even down to not even remembering meeting him before. But worse was Fluttershy who acted like a oblivious air head. Discord was acting inappropriately but he was doing so becuase he felt left out. Fluttershy should have picked up on him being upset and talked to him earlier before everything went to hell.
I think the episode needed a serious rewrite and have the overall message be about "good communication" instead about "Making new friends and keeping the old." Discord should have communicated how he was upset better to Fluttershy. Fluttershy should have communicated why she was hanging out with Treehugger more then Discord. Celestia should have communicated her "Discord Plan" to Twilight.
I give the episode a D. It's not the worse one I've seen but the script is sloppy. The animation also looked messy and rushed. I did laugh at a few jokes and I liked the Puppet Dimension. Also, totally ship SmoozeXDiscord.

- Discord is still pretty new to friendship, and the more insecure parts of us may tend to feel like we're being turned down by our friends when they're paying attention to somebody else. Yes, it's selfish, but that's just human nature. Sometimes, people let it go too far and start to even humiliate themselves trying to become the center of attention, as Discord did. He's just fun for entertainment, but overall, it still makes me wonder how the rest of the Mane 6 didn't make him feel jealous earlier. And I wish he would stop disregarding everybody's fun just for the hell of it. I mean, I guess he sorta had a reason here, but.... I don't really know, I'm hoping they'll be able to do something nice with the character again.
- I like to think Tree Hugger genuinely forgot about meeting Discord. She seems to be a bit of an airhead. She also appears to be a pothead instead of a hippie.
- I really don't know why Fluttershy never caught on. At first, it's understandable, but when it takes Discord 3 times to get her attention in that one scene, I think there's an issue.
- I agree, a rewrite in some areas would've helped. I like your idea of the alternate message they could have used here. This definitely wouldn't have been the first case of that. Like in Boast Busters, where it should've focused on how to deal with attention seekers- instead of being afraid to show off. I mean come on, Trixie's a performer, of course she's gonna show off...

Good review. I would've given the episode a C+, mainly because I felt it was nice to see Discord acting a little malicious again, rather than just silly. And I agree, more of the CMC and a toned down Tree Hugger would've have gone a long way in making this episode more enjoyable.

The concept of the episode was great because it reintroduces the unstoppable Smooze and grants us more opportunities to see a truly malicious Discord. The reality warping embodiment of entropy we fell in love with in Season 2. And while our glimpses into Discord's world and some of his more sinister moments were great to witness, I found the rest of the episode painful to watch. Treehugger's endless plethora of new age hippy stereotypes and her Ono-esque screeches with Hindustani classical accompaniment were made me dread every moment that she was onscreen. Fluttershy's awkward blindness to her friend's jealousy was increasingly difficult to watch. Discords attempts in general, acting like an ex who can't accept the breakup, were outright embarrassing. With all that said, pretty okay episode. I'd rewatch it, but I'll need at least a week.

I feel like I am the only one who is getting annoyed with Discord. Don't get me wrong, he's a unique and interesting character, but I would rather see a return of Sombra or Chrysalis... I don't feel Discord should have as many episodes as he seems to be getting in the future, he may be interetsting but not interesting enough to have loads of episodes of his own. I found this episode kind of a bore and also the previous Discord episode that included Cadance and Twilight, they were kind of... bland, in my opinion.

I am writting a full review to point out why this is so far...not only the best episode of the season...but one of the best IN THE WHOLE SHOW! Because this episode really shows why Discord's reformation was so good, and even builds off of his full reformation. (I will explain why he acted the way he did here, and it is not just 'chaotic shinanagins'...it is actually a bit..or rather A LOT deeper than that)
(Also. The only reason I keep coming back here is that I keep seeing these in my More From DeviantArt thing)

Maybe it´s me but I find this show occassionally funny. Overuse of pop culture, videogames and other references seems like a sign of lazy writing.
How is that gak thingy even The Smooze? It was originally created by the Witches of the Volcano of Doom and whenever ponies were caught in it they felt miserably. It was everything but friendly. The Flutter Ponies were the only ones who could successfully vanquish it. In the FiM the only thingies remotely close to that are the Breezies so they could have helped out. The way Treehugger resolved seemed kinda lame.
Other than that it was a "meh" episode. Another thing; it actually surprised me that Celestia said that this was the most fun Gala she had in years because they were always boring. Um, hello; didn´t she say the same exact thing in Season 1 about the Gala?
I´m sorry, after being a long time follower of MLP for years I don´t get these new ones anymore. Things change.

Somewhere around C and D. It makes me think of not watching them from now on; just for reviewing purposes. I hope they don´t turn out like The Simpsons when their seasons began to get stale. I find watching anime more interesting nowadays because it has different kinds of stories and more complex. So yeah, it could be a personal thing; MLP is off my menu for now.

I honestly haven't been enjoying this season so far. Maybe I'll like it more when I rewatch the whole thing after it is all over, but for no, I've enjoyed 2 episodes, the first 3. The two parter, and Castle Sweet Castle. The cutie mark crusader episodes have just seemed, off to me, and rainbow dash episodes always make me cringe. I do appreciate some of the concepts they have come up with, I just don't find those episodes entertaining. I cried watching Castle Sweet Castle, and felt it was a perfect exhibit of the mane 5 working together in their haphazard ways, and the two part openers are always great to start the season on a high note.
But I am just feeling so let down and disappointed! I'm not feeling the same happiness I did watching season 4, though it could be because there hasn't been much Pinkie yet.
