why is applejack and that other girl cuddling?

I liked the intelligence level of this episode, even if all I think Applejack accomplished in the end was to ruin her friend's career while the manager more or less gets away without repercussion. That's my only gripe with the episode, because it made me agree with the cynic in me, and i watch this show to get away from that crap. Β

I like to think that Rara got herself a new manager after all of this. Probably not too difficult - the girls do know Sapphire Shores.

My current 3rd favorite of Season 5, only behind Amending Fences and Rogers' other episode Crusaders of the Lost Mark, my 3rd favorite by Ms. Rogers, only behind Crusaders of the Lost Mark and Pinkie Pride, and even in my Top Ten.
Now let's see how good The Cutie Re-Mark will get as well...
And I speak for all of us here when I say this to Ms. Rogers: "Thank you for every great episode you wrote for us all."

Applejack was a tool. She judged the show before she even knew whether or not Rara was truly happy or not. All she cared about was forcing Rara to conform to her own expectations instead of trying to learn to accept Rara for who she wanted to be. It's only a coincidence she happened to be right. To be honest this episode was fluff with a VERY mixed message and it just made AJ look super ignorant.Β

Honestly I'd probably give it a A+ only because the solo song more than makes up for the weakness of the plot and because it was Amy Keating Rogers last episode. It makes the lyrics to the song a little bittersweet but as final farewell I think she did good. Then again I'm an old sentimental fool.Β
Yeah AJ was a jerk but she meant well. Yeah Pinkie was nerfed but we get to see her frazzled and yeah the songs are just there because hey-everypony loves a musical episode and it's her last show and they want to close season 5 with a bang but...it all works. I mean this episode has a ton of heart so really I guess I've come around to your way of seeing it.Β
I always end up forgiving this show for all its faults because the folks making it have the best of intentions. Yeah it can be a curse as much as its a blessing but I think they did OK.

Applejack only started doubting Rara when she heard her manager yelling at Pinkie. Otherwise, she was perfectly content with Rara's decision.

I loved Rara's song and voice at the end so much, and that she had returned to her former style with a pretty beautiful mane and clothing. Like AJ i had tears in my eyes. Since Amy Keating Rogers wrote also the episode where the CMCs got their cutie marks my expectations for "The mane attraction" were really high, and I wasn't disappointed.

Absolutely loved it. The story was great, the song was amazingΒ and Lena's vocals were incredible, personally the best song from the show! The problem was the episode ended much sooner than I thought. 20 minutes goes by really fast!
I give it an A to an A+ !

You judging something by its own standards seem like a pretty shit idea. Like, sure if the show/franchise already has a solid standard, great, but how many of those are around these fuckin' days? If you're planning to judge something up to snuff it should be to a universal standard that all other things can be judged to as well. Judging something to a personalized standard just leads to unnecessary complications.
Example: Harvey Beaks is a fantastic cartoon in its own right, but compared to the standard set by Nickelodeon with its current runnings, Harvey Beaks might as well be regarded as the second fucking coming of Christ. Last Airbender or Over the Garden Wall level children's programming.
External factors should play a part in judging a piece of media, especially when dealing with children's entertainment. Adverse effects come from when things are in their own bubble. It was My Little Pony's expected 'standards', (Which were that it was gonna fucking SUUUUUUUUUUUUU-) that made everybody flip the fuck out when it turned out to be a decent show. Making a 4chan joke into something that was actually real.Β
Basically, having a set universal standards for all programming of its genre is the lead to objective and reliable criticism for what is and isn't absolute shit.

OMFG I CAN'T EVEN! Its Lady Gaga pony! Its almost exact! The parallels between Lady Gaga being small time BEAUTIFUL singer before she hit the big time with all the back up dancers and auto-tune and then recently pulling out after being overwhelmed by all the bull that comes from the modern music industry
Absolute FABULOUS episode it was so much fun watching and had an amazing message
But I couldn't help freaking out and giggling to myself the entire time on the fact that this is a Lady Gaga pony >w< It made my fangirl squee something fierce XD seriously AWESOME X3

It is one of my newer favorites XD for sure my absolute favorites of all time though are Suited for Success season 1 episode 14 and A Dog and Pony show season 1 episode 19 as well as season 5 episode 14 Canterlot Boutique >w< I'm a bit of a Rarity pony >w< but I liked those episodes best before I even decided that Rarity was my fav pony
And OF COURSE Keep Calm and Flutter On season 3 episode 10 it was so cute and amazing plus I'm not gonna lie Discord is by far one of my favorite characters of all time in the entire series X3Β
Rarity is my favorite pony, Discord is by far my favorite character and Luna is my favorite princess though easy going laid back Celestia is growing on me X3Β
If I'm totally honest though I'm just a nut for the show ^w^ I have almost no episodes that I dislike and I like just about every character as well

Definitely a step up from the last few episodes we had. Especially coming from the utter crap that was What About Discord?. The episode does have its problems like uneven pacing and some lack of actual bonding between Rara and Applejack, but this was a fantastic AJ episode and a good way for AKR to leave the show. It gets a B+ from me.
