Description So this is what seems to have become the famous English with Rayman play-through...

When I started it, I originally intended it to be one video just to show off a little known game to the Rayman community with a slightly bizarre story line (seriously when I first heard it I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of that day XD).

Little did I know that it would be a play-through which would result in a multitude of Andrew fan-art appearing on here! I will admit that it did make me smile

Anyway, this is the picture that was used for the playlist intro in high quality. If you've seen the play-through before, you should be able to recognise some of these...classic?...moments from my game. If not, you are probably utterly confused right now

Oh and if you haven't, you can watch the whole thing here [link]

COMING SOON: A new Youtube play-through of another obscure Rayman spinoff! I'll keep it secret what game it is for now, but lets just say I'm going to be pretty bumbling while playing XD

Oh my god hahaha! your videos made me laugh my ass off! Andrew is such a shameless british stereotype that its actually hilarious! seriously im British and it even made laugh because nobody talks like him here XD i loved the part where he started singing his own version of the national british anthem and says 'oh is it tea time already'! how much more stereotypical can he get! just so you know you have just unintentionally made Andrew one of my favourite Rayman characters! hes such a dork lol! so if i draw fanart of him now its all your fault

btw this is confusing me a bit,Andrew is obviously meant to be British but to me his clothes look more like the American flag than the Union jack because of the stars and stripes, is his clothes even meant to be like a flag?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to GothiCraft [2012-03-12 21:22:53 +0000 UTC]

Whoa, I certainly have created lots of Andrew fans! Yeah, his stereotypical English-ness rules. I definitely haven't heard anyone speak like Andrew, and I'm from the South East!

As for his hat, I think it's designed to incorporate elements of both the Union Jack and Ol' Glory because the UK and the USA are the two main English speaking countries, which the game is meant to represent, despite the fact that Andrew himself is English (notice the Rayman faced Statue of Liberty in the World Map?). Plus, the red, white and blue colour scheme suits both flags fine.

Oh, and if you do some Andrew fan-art, I look forward to seeing it

Hahaha I LOVE THIS!!! Will the new 'obscure spinoff' Rayman playthrough be based off Rayman 1?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-05 23:18:40 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it will be based on Rabbids. YAY!

Nah, it's based on..uhh...I can only say Rayman 1.5, as it was sort of during the period between Rayman 1 and 2.
Fear not, it's an Rayman 1 cast, so expect the return of favourites

Also, I had a dream last night that I was watching some educational spinoff Rayman game and I couldn't stop laughing at how goofy it was. The game featured some character who was a relative of both Rayman and the Magician (somehow) and he was reading a rhyming book that mentioned something about cooking meatballs.

...I have to draw this character... XD

Heh...what?

Yeah there are two. Two for different age ranges, although both have entirely different activities to each other, and both are very different to the English game. I hope to do both at some point, although I can't spending all my money on Rayman

Hhhm. I didn't know there were two different ones. It would be great to see both, but like you said, you can't spending all your money on Rayman

And yeah, I'm actually drawing the mysterious character now. XD I can't remember directly seeing him in the dream but I can still somehow remember bits of his appearance. I do remember laughing A LOT, though!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-10 00:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Particularly when you make an ISO of the disk so you can use it without CD drives, and then the game is so badly coded it insists on having the disk in the primary drive for it to run :\

It's so bad that even the Rayman Screensavers (ooh!) that are built in require the CD. Imagine having a screensaver that only ran if you permanently had a CD in the drive XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2012-03-10 05:27:06 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha XD But the game still runs with the disk in? That's good! I still haven't managed to get Rayman 2 to work, disk or no disc. But Rayman 1 works fine for me, I just need the disk in the drive and I have to type some DOSbox commands.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-10 13:02:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but it's no use considering the disk drive doesn't work on the non 64-bit computer
Never got Rayman 2 to work either, but we've got the perfect set up of Rayman 1 which means you don't need to insert the disk (and get it dusty and scratched) every-time you want to play and you don't need to enter any commands in DOSbox either. It just runs normally at perfect speed without the annoying clicks and pops you often get from DOS emulation.
The Playstation version is still the best though

:U Ohhh, well, good luck getting that pesky game to run, then!

And how did you get Rayman 1 to behave so well for you?! ((I even have a video of DOSbox causing the game to runn in fast-motion, complete with goofy annotations all over it XD))

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-10 14:01:47 +0000 UTC]

I'd have to ask my brother on that one, he's the one who did it ! He's exceptionally good and getting old DOS games to work. All I know is it has something to do with the almighty batch file

Unfortunately, it looks like the next attempt to get CP to work will involve Virtual Machines, which is a bit of a pain...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2012-03-10 14:08:41 +0000 UTC]

Ah, by virtual machines, do you mean programs like DOSbox?

Oh, by the way, I'm working on that art trade pic, I'm about halfway done! And I'm also working on a really sweet (but really long) comic about how Betilla and the Magician met.

The almightly batch file? I've seen that file, but I never knew what it did. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-10 14:41:17 +0000 UTC]

No, I mean like Microsoft Virtual PC, which lets you load a computer in a computer, if that makes sense. So you could be in Windows 7 running Windows 2000. Yeah, it gets confusing XD. Rayman CP isn't DOS based, it's designed to run in Windows 95, so DOSbox wouldnt work.

Batch files are the key to getting DOS games to run the retro way. As a matter of fact, all you need to do is use notepad to make one!

And a comic, cool! You're making me feel bad for not having yet completed mine

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2012-03-10 22:50:12 +0000 UTC]

A computer within a computer. XD

Hhhm, I should check that out, after all, it does get tedious using the DOSbox startup commands!

Don't feel bad, these things take time. XD I've still only very roughly coloured mine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2012-03-11 11:11:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, virtual Windows 98 had the same effect as Windows XP. I have a few more ideas, but don't expect anything good
The manual has loads of interesting pictures of the game though, including what appear to be some unidentifiable Rayman 1 style characters (ooo!). I didn't see any fez topped characters with rhyming books though

I think I've got to start up on that comic again at some point. To be honest it's mostly been school work as well as other projects that held it back. I'm really pleased with what I've done so far though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2012-03-11 11:19:45 +0000 UTC]

Awesome! What did the unidentifiable characters look like? And once I'm done with the Betilla and Magician comic, the art trade, and some random 'Trolldrew strikes again' pic I'll draw more pictures of the beloved 'Sheldon' XD

And I know what school can be like, taking up free time like that X)

This one conversation certainly has invaded the comments on this image

'Trolldrew strikes again' = What the...XD

As for the characters, they are hard to make out due to the fact that the pictures were very small and in black and white; but there seemed to be several unusual looking clowns, one of them with this wooden sign, and a strange figure in a cloak who appeared to be a wizard of some kind. Either that or they were a music conductor, but they did appear to have a pointed hat...

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2012-03-11 11:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Wizard music conductor guy in a cloak... Sounds exciting! As for clowns, well, don't they all look unusual in their own special way? XD

Yeah, 'Trolldrew strikes again' is basically just a rough drawing of Rayman, Betilla and the Magician standing around a giant choc-mint icecream lying uselessly on the ground as it melts XD The name 'Trolldrew' is a nickname for Andrew that my friend and I made up, as he seems to be a bit of a... Troll, at times. XD
