Description After uploading the Raygirl sprite ([link] ), I suddenly remembered this collection I made back in 2010 but never got around to putting online (I seemed to have a habit of doing this in 2010 for some reason ).

These were originally made for a Rayman Designer map set in a school in reference to levels I used to make when I was little (except in those ones, Rayman's classmates were made out of tile blocks, meaning they looked like Atari 2600 people XD).

Most of the characters aren't really meant to be anyone, although the one the far right (with the backwards shoes, sorry about that) was the teacher, and the cheerful looking blue haired one ended up as an accidental fan character of mine after I decided he should be called Skye and have a home in Band Land .

Glad I managed to capture the bright and colourful look of Rayman 1 in my sprite edits

Yeah, I had a lot of fun playing around with the various sprite pieces from Rayman 1 to ensure they looked like different Raypeople as opposed to Rayman re-colours . No idea why I got so attached to Skye, I just like how the sprite came out I guess, and his cheerful giggle

It's amazing what you can do by fiddling with different shots of Rayman's hair and the different body parts of the enemy characters. It just goes to show how much effort the developers originally put in the sprite work on the game

I still think Rayman 1 is a beautiful looking game, even compared to today's video games. I haven't really seen much 2D games which top it in terms of graphics or music, although Origins nearly does the trick (seriously, I love the background art in that game, it's amazing!), but that's also Rayman

Yeah, Rayman Origins does look like a pretty amazing game with great artwork, although Rayman 1 is still my favourite.

Absolutely - as much as I love Origins, Rayman 1 will always be my favourite and I don't thing anything can ever stop that, particularly as it was one of the first video games I ever saw after Alex Kidd. Another game I really like in the Rayman series is Rayman Raving Rabbids for the GBA (not that party game fail on the Wii). While it's less original and probably has a few more flaws then Origins, it captures the Rayman 1 feel far better, and uses some of the scrapped Rayman 4 stuff as well. I actually wrote a whole review on the game, which I've been meaning to put online along with my other game reviews for quite some time. So much stuff I need to get around doing

Oh sweet! And yeah the GBA RRR actually looks pretty cool. And the funny thing is, Rayman 3 was my first Rayman game, and I was so used to that art style that when I played Rayman Advance I thought everything looked goofy and creepy. XD But not I love the Rayman 1 artstyle, and honestly I'm not too fond of the Rayman 3 look.

By pure coincidence, I found a copy of GBA RRR for sale today for 2 pounds, so now I own a copy on actual hardware! I'm currently in the Dream Forest (that's the third world in this game), but I've had to stop now due to homework (last full day of the holidays )
Goofy and creepy eh ? My first Rayman game was the first one (and quite a few years before Rayman 3 GBA came out), so that's always been the one and only Rayman style for me . Rabbids GBA really manages to capture the style in many ways, namely in background and enemy character design

Sweet! While I must say RRR GBA has a very interesting art style, I still don't really like the Rayman 3 look of Rayman. It's like he's trying too hard to be 'cool'.

Yes, Rayman 3 Rayman is the worst Rayman. Ever notice how in that 'Rayman race' manipulation image I did, he was at the back falling over and failing the race ?
But asides from R3 Ray, at least the game itself looks like this:

Recently I've been thinking about by Rayman fan-fic series (which I showed you a preview of a few months back), I should really get back to it. Why do I always get the most creative urges during school term?

Yeah, I did notice that! And that is lovely scenery.

Now that I think about it, I haven't worked on my Rayman fanfic in AGES, and I was actually close to done with that. I should really get back to writing that sometime.

I'd love to see the finished Rayman fanfic!

I've just beaten RRR GBA again (for the first time on actual hardware!). This time I beat the final boss the second time I tried! It's definitely a Space Mama situation (aka. one of the regular bosses is harder than the final boss). All I need to do now is get one more cage and about 2 or 3 more lums for 100%. I secretly wish I hadn't completed the jungle world, because I want an excuse to play it again

Ohh, I've seen that picture before. It's SO FITTING for the Rayman 1 Dream Forest! To be honest, it's been ages since I've played any game other than Minecraft.

You're into Minecraft, eh? I had no idea! It seems there's a lot of love for that game lately - although I can see why. I love how it captures the feel of games from the early 90s with its voxel engine and low-quality textures .

The Jungle world is probably one of my favourites from RRRGBA, when going back to 100% my save game, I deliberately saved getting the missing lums on that world until last . You don't actually get rewarded in any way for getting every single lum and cage except personal satisfaction, but that's good enough for me . Only one problem now, my brother's taken the other save game, so now I can't play again when I want to !

I have never had to worry about any pesky siblings stealing my save files :U

What's worst is when a game only supplies one save game, and then me and my brother have to choose who takes it XD. The amount of times my brother has hacked Sonic games to add a save game menu ...

Argh, it sucks when games do that! And your brother actually hacked Sonic games to have multiple save files? :U

Yep, he's good at doing things like that, particularly if it involves batch files . Although he did do Computer Science at University, which probably helps
One of the best things he's made in his spare was a virtual world made in the DOOM engine based on one of our creations called Don't You Dare. I'm currently helping him make a new version as I'm in charge of the graphics (this is usually how we work together). Meanwhile, he's having to work on extra backgrounds for my comic. He's going to have a huge workload for the next one - a cluttered shed. I kind of feel bad for him

The nice thing about Don't You Dare is that we invented it when I was about six years old, and I've always wanted to take it out of the house. Recently, it has become my school magazine's resident comic strip, so yay! I have no idea if anyone likes it(outside of the magazine editor team, who all seem to approve) since I've never got any feedback, but the thought kind of frightens me. Imagine something that you've kept to yourself for that many years suddenly coming out into the open world with people talking about it! Wierd.

I might as well share a comic with you now after all of this chat ! Behold - Don't you Dare's first steps on the world wide web (okay, that's kind of terrifying too).
As this was the first issue designed for the magazine, this is basically DYD at it's most basic, like a lot of the stories we came up with when I was six. It get's crazier

Glad you liked it! It looks so weird seeing someone talk about Joe XD.
When I started Don't you Dare, Gertrude and Joe were the only characters, but we soon added more, who I've been introducing throughout the school terms. Speaking of which, I haven't made a comic strip featuring Techno Tom yet! I'll have to get around to that
