Description I just yesterday finished Gone with the wind
and gee that book has kept me on my tiptoes and internally gripping my hair and biting my fingernails for over a week already! *u*
if you haven't read the book - do it! it's a classic for a good reason!

And naturally my crew has had to suffer from my tremendously unstable feelings ...
which always happens when I get excited over something XD

I can relate to this. Even though I’ve read the Warrior cats series so many times every time I get to a characters death or something almost happening to them or some kind of suspenseful moment I start going bat shit crazy.

Ah Gone with the Wind is surely not the only book that has gotten my soul captured but it was a great example!Β
Same happens every time I read Artemis Fowl for instance

Now I get to relive all those wonderful imaginative memories now that Warriors is being made into a movie (hopefully Survivor Dogs and Seeker bears get added to the list (other books by Erin Hunter the author of Warriors))
Lunar Chronicles (steampunk fairytales), Harry Potter, anything by Rick Riordan, and the Avatar/Korra series (those are cartoon but they give me the same feels) for me.
Also this is hilarious XD

I'm quite suspicious about movies made out of books XD (love Stardust though)
so I'm just happy they haven't made Artemis Fowl or Tales of Redwall into a movie...
But yeah Harry Potter is awesome! Love the first Percy Jackson series too
and Avatar is a classic! (the movie sucked pretty hard though)

The Warriors movie is going to have David Heyman as the producer so I’m pretty psyched.
I’ve been thinking about checking our Artemis Fowl after some recommendations from my friends (online people)
I don’t know what’s worse. The whitewashing, the choreography or the fact that the movies soundtrack is available for download but the original series or Korra’ soundtrack isn’t (Nickelodeon will release a shit Ton of spongebob crap but not even a single Avatar merchandise!!!!)

You totally should check it out! one of the best science-fantasies around in my opinion!Β
I read the series through like every year and every time I get surprised by how great it is! ( at least the first 4 books)Β

MysticTopaz04 In reply to CuriousCucumber [2018-02-19 07:16:40 +0000 UTC]

Warriors isn’t really a science fantasy series true the medicine cats and the leaders can connect with Starclan (cat heaven) and the leaders receive nine lives (they can die and come back to life) but they’re just cats in the wild living in clans and unless it’s the super editions Thunderclan gets the important plot stuff happen to them. He is pretty great.

Next time I’m in the bookstore I’ll see if I can find any.

but I could see why so many people like them

I've read Jane Eyre and most of the classics of that period... Jane Austen's, Wurthering heights etc.
aside with Pride and Prejudice Gone with the Wind was my favourite this far!

*cracks her knuckles* well you asked for it!
I'll just list some books you might not know already :3 ( I mean I love Harry Potters, Lotr, Percy Jackson, Narnia etc. but you probably know them)

1. Artemis Fowl - series. (Eoin Colfer). Super awesome mix of scifi-fantasy-adventure! My ultimate favourite books. Great characters, humour, adventure, fun!
2. Redwall - series (Brian Jacques) This series is basically fables, so characters are animals. However books are really nice old fairy-tale -like warm stories.
3. Mortal Engines - series (Philip Reeve). Scifi and future-story with a lovely twist of steampunk and fantasy too.
4. The Edge Chronicles (Paul Steward). Pure fantasy with lots of odd creatures and sky pirates!
5. Stravaganza - series (Mary Hoffman). This is basically historical fiction with a small twist of magic - about sort of time-travellers who adventure in two different worlds. Adventure again, a bit of romance and reaally nice historical references.
6. Moomin-books (Tove Jansson). These are a Finnish classic! Might be difficult to find in the US but the books are absolutely lovely!
7. The Cry of Icemark (Stuart Hill). Pure fantasy again, lovely story with great characters. The series has two sequels of which I have a bit mixed feelings but the first book is awesome!
8. The Enchanted Forest chronicles (Patricia C. Wrede). If you really want to laugh and be amused - read these. Fairy-tale of an adventurous Princess - super fun, talking cats etc. yes!
9. The Goose Girl (Shannon Hale). The series has 4 parts and I adore all of them. It's a new version of Grimms fairy tale but it touches deep - a bit of romance but mostly friendship and finding one's place and home.
10. Sea Jade (Phyllis A. Whitney). Ooooold old old book - a little dark story of romance and mystery.
11. Tales of the Earthsea (Ursula Le Guin). Classic fantasy series first three books are great!

Here are some of my very favourites :3 hopefully there are some new ones for you too!

Β I HAVE BEEN SO TIRED OF LOOKING FOR BOOKS TO READ AND NOW THERE ARE SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES!!! Β Many thanks for the list! Β I'll have to let you know what I think when I finish them! Β I hope I can get my hands on that Finnish book I do love reading things from different countries/cultures! Β

CuriousCucumber In reply to Tigerisbeastmode [2017-02-21 15:47:24 +0000 UTC]

Ah good you know Artemis and the gang! Have you read any of the books? if not - DO IT!
(Oh I have read all of the Redwall series but the last two or three last ones! I have them all in my bookshelf though! I started with the 6th book - one can read them in published order
or chronological order - 6th is basically the first part of the Redwall history)

Hah whenever in need of good books ;D I have some to recommend!
I think you can find the Moomin books online (ebay etc.) - Moomin are also a comic and cartoon/anime that are great too XD

I started reading the Artemis Fowl books but I was in first or second grade and didn't understand what was happening I'm definitely going to give them another go especially since I keep hearing good things about it! Β Do you have a favorite Redwall book? Β

I will totally ask you for more recommendations when I finish these! Β If you need any recommendations as well you know where to find me

CuriousCucumber In reply to Tigerisbeastmode [2017-02-22 12:15:03 +0000 UTC]

I got the first book when I was on 3rd grade (because I loved the cover) and it pretty much stole my soul XD
but yeah it might a bit tricky for younger kids than that...

I'd say of all Redwall books the 6th (Martin the Warrior) is still my very favorite - it was my first and Martin happens to be one
of my fav characters of the series. Salamandastron, Mossflower and Taggerung follow close behind.

I appreciate the offer currently my to-read list is sooo long that I think I won't be needing new stuff on it in a while
but I'll keep you in mind.

It's a classic story - set in colonnial America. It tells a love story between spoiled lady Scarlett O'Hara and charming Rhett Butler (probably the best male character ever created btw ;D) spiced with nice dresses, drama and history...
it's an old book, very long... but once you get into it, you can't stop reading
one of the best books I've read
