Description
this could be a friggin' caption contest photo.this ... is an outtake. yes.
made in the most contrasting of shoots ... a band photo.
i made one photo like this. the rest of of the band. all two of them.
although i liked what i saw on the monitor of the camera, when i got home and saw the detail that i wanted on the fingerprint ... i was happy.
contrasting what went on over the weekend this shoot -- albeit guerilla-style with no permits in the streets and alley-ways of hollywood -- was a breathe of fresh albeit smoke-tinged air.
i like this photo.
i like that it was completely unexpected and made during a shoot with a wholly different purpose.
and i thought i was getting home early tonight.
maybe tomorrow...

love that you can see the fingerprint, that's awesome and the barb next to it is the icing on the cake . Checked out the bogen pod, very cool. Will investigate further.....

Very nice photo!
I have one question though. How did you get so much shadow with such a big box?

This is pretty artsy for you, but I like it. I think it could be a little bit little though, maybe with a bit more contrast? But I like contrasty stuff.

Love this shot! I'm not even sure why but I just love it it's a great photo. I love how large the hand is compared to the wire. Instead of the wire looking extremely small it makes the hand look godly big which is a very neat effect. Well Done ~Kar

Love barbed wire... dunno why, it just is something that's always been a part of my life somehow... rickty rusty dangerous but... what's the secret? Always meaning to barbed wire, it's never put up just because it's pretty... it's always there to keep things in or out. It's always got the western feel to it, too... or rustic, or militaristic... background memories of some cowpoke trying to fix a fence in the middle of a thunderstorm... don't know why that's there... but it's there.
For some reason... the first thing that came to mind is "the hand is too clean... too soft." Weird. I don't normally look at your work that way. The lighting, as always, is great... wonderful depth and textures... but the hands look like an artist's hand, the hand of someone that works with a computer or works in an office. Why would I see that? I feel like I'm missing the point somehow.
Helluva hand-held shot, at that speed. Shooting between the shakes. I'm impressed.
Love this shot, though... gonna have to it, for sure. It talks to me, but I guess I'm hearing a totally different language on this.

Very nice! Though I think it would look much better on your Ilford BTW, I was an Ilford fan too, but now I swithed to Foma.

Wow it is great! It is kind of scary maybe because it reminds me of the persecution of the Jews during 2nd World War. Not quite sure if that was what you wanted. Havent read your comment, sorry.

Images like this always make me think of the Holocaust for some reason. I mean, nothing about this even hints at the Holocaust. It could just be some guy escaping prison, or breaking into a garbage facility to retrieve large plastic bladders of liposuctioned fat to make into soap. WHO KNOWS?! But anyway, a very expressive piece. The hand looks like the person attached to it may have gotten to the fence and given up, or is merely observing something on the other side.

The lines on his palm, right in the bright area, create a kind of vestigal idea of a Star of David - it's not quite there, but i can't not see it anyways? - this is a beautiful photograph.
thanks.

Y'know, I swear that the vast majority of my favorite shots are the unplanned ones. The ones that just happen. They feel more immediate, they let me get in there, feel it. Don't get me wrong; there are some damned amazing pre-planned shots and that's an artform, too. But there's something undefinable which is different about a shot in the moment...
As you said somewhere in the past - it's all about seeing.
Love this one.
