Description

Grass: (Fantastic sweeper with Contrary+Leaf Storm, a fascinating concept with the whole "dragons evolving into snakes" motif with its evolutionary line, I liked playing as Snivy/Serperior in the 3rd & 4th Mystery Dungeon games, and a Serperior I had in a Black Nuzlocke managed to survive the entire way through)

Nickname: Tohru (after the dragon from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)

Fire: (Awesome role in the games it stars in, gorgeous design, and being of the "facts over feelings" mindset, it's only natural that I'd side with the dragon of Truth)

Nickname: Blue-Eyes (after the Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Water: (Lots of quirky moves to use, super fun to have in playthroughs, and I was actually pretty shaken up when my partner Piplup in Super Mystery Dungeon died instead of me at the end of the game. That was the moment where I really grew to love Empoleon)

Nickname: Kenny (after Kenny McCormick from South Park, which is yet another reason why I grew to love Empoleon so much)

Normal: (Majestic design, the creator of the Pokemon universe, and is one of the most versatile Ubers you could ever ask for. That, and I've always been Team Arceus in terms of the whole Mew vs. Arceus debate over who is the true god)

Nickname: Zanza (after the final boss of Xenoblade Chronicles)

Electric: / (My favorite Pokemon of all time. Cutest fully evolved Pokemon in my opinion, and I've gotten into intense debates with people on his behalf (said people were convinced that Pikachu was somehow better). That, and I seem to have an affinity for cute orange characters who constantly get the worst of everything)

Nickname: Chaos (after Professor Chaos from South Park) or Butters (for the Alolan variant, after Butters Stotch from South Park)

Psychic: (A Pokemon I was fascinated with when I was younger, mainly because the other kids in my class convinced me that it was the rarest and most powerful Pokemon. While I know that isn't the case, and I preferred Mewtwo over it for several years, Mew reclaimed that position when it filled the void in the Super Mystery Dungeon postgame, helping me cope with losing Kenny until I was able to get him back)

Nickname: Rika (after Rika Furude from the Higurashi series)

Fighting: (Fantastic in competitive (especially now that Lucario can get Meteor Mash via Egg Moves), awesome role in the 8th movie, fun to play as in Smash Bros, and is just a Pokemon that I try to put on my team whenever I get the chance)

Nickname: Asriel (after Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale)

Rock: (Awesome sand-setter, versatile yet powerful in competitive, and is just a really kickass-looking Pokemon)

Nickname: Skullcrusher (after Stoick's dragon from How to Train Your Dragon 2)

Ground: (Pretty much the same reasons as Tyranitar. Was also the first Pokemon I competitively bred for in a Gen 7 game)

Nickname: Cynthia (after the Sinnoh Champion who uses a Garchomp. I know, I'm uncreative, but I didn't have any better names for a female Garchomp)

Flying: (God of the skies, and its Mega reaps all the benefits of the Flying type without any of the weaknesses. A fantastic final boss of the first Mystery Dungeon game, and is just a really awesomely powerful Pokemon)

Nickname: Slifer (after Slifer the Sky Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Bug: (My first-ever Shiny... whom was gone forever after some random kid from the class across from mine deleted my save in elementary school. 3 years ago, I spent hours Masuda-breeding for one, until I was finally reunited with my long-lost love. The fact that Mega Beedrill is a competitive beast just makes me adore it more)

Nickname: Lucy (after the Skillet song by the same name. The lyrics in the song remind me of the original Shiny Beedrill that I lost, and were what motivated me to press on until I hatched another one)

Poison: (The first Pokemon I ever owned... and is my personal favorite of the Kanto starters. Super bulky thanks to its Thick Fat-toting Mega, a decent sunlight sweeper thanks to its Chlorophyll ability, and I honestly don't get why so many people dislike this mon/think it's ugly. That, and the Venusaur from the first season of the anime is a character I completely sympathize with, seeing as how we both got pissed at Ash's Bulbasaur refusing to evolve)

Nickname: Bulblax (after the Emperor/Empress Bulblax from the Pikmin series)

Dark:  (The ability to change its type is an awesome one indeed. Loads of fun to use in battle, unpredictable and versatile, and I managed to get a FEMALE Shiny one!)

Nickname: Preyas (after Aquos Preyas from the Bakugan series)

Ghost: (My online mascot itself! Super strong (almost to an unfair advantage due to its ability to steal stat buffs), awesome to see on the big screen (I Choose You was the first Pokemon movie I ever got to see in theaters), and bears an uncanny resemblance to Mysterion (with the most fitting type ever. I mean, Fighting--because Mysterion mainly fights with close combat--and Ghost--given Kenny's immortality and Mysterion's ghost form in the video games! It's too perfect!)

Nickname: Mysterion (after Kenny's superhero alter-ego from South Park)

Ice: (The Pokemon that made Ice types viable! A fantastic supporter, can set up both screens at once with Aurora Veil, boasts a never-missing Blizzard attack thanks to Snow Warning, and I honestly wish Lillie's Vulpix quit being such a baby and evolved into this gorgeous bastard)

Nickname: Yuki (after the Japanese word for snow, and after the character from Wolf Children)

Steel: (My all-time favorite Mega Evolution, mainly how it took a forgettable weakling and gave it the highest physical Attack in the game. Devastatingly powerful, a joy to use in battle, and was one of the first Pokemon I ever competitively trained)

Nickname: Chara (after Chara from Undertale)

Dragon: (Adorable, versatile in battle, fun to use, and I managed to catch a competitive Shiny one!)

Nickname: Karen (after Karen McCormick from South Park)

Fairy: (Creepy-cute, a competitive beast, my favorite character in the Pokemon anime, and as Fawful's Minion put it: "takes up the refreshing role of 'anti-Pikachu.'" And yes, a big factor of my affinity for this guy is because it's the only Pokemon that actually has a common interest with me: our shared hatred for Pikachu)

Nickname: Mimikins (after Mimi's nickname from Super Paper Mario. I kid you not, I named my Mimikyu this before the Sun/Moon anime even introduced one with that name)

Cool. Here is my list.
Normal-
Grass-Venusaur. I love venusaur for pretty much the same reasons as you do.
Fire-Tanonflame. Tanonflame is and will always be my favorite bird pokemon. This is because of experience. When I started Ultra Moon, I received a Spanish fletching nicknamed "Faia" in wonder trade. I decided to add her to my team. I watched her grow and evolve, and eventually she became a super strong tanonflame that was the speediest member of my team. She also helped me hatch eggs for shiny hunting. Because of Faia, I will always respect tanonflame as my favorite fire type.
Water-Blastoise. Again, I had a shiny blastoise that was in my team, but this time it was on sun. Like Faia, I received him on trade as a squirtle. Blastoise helped me become the champion of alola and was the Pokemon in my team that made the most OHKO's in the Elite Four.
Electric-Alolan Raichu. I don't have much experience with alolan raichu, so I mostly like it because of its design and movepool. The psychic typing made it very powerful and it's design is so cute. I still like regular raichu though.
Rock-Dusk Lycanroc-I got the event rockruff with own tempo when I bought Ultra Moon early. Honestly, that rockruff who is now a dusk lycanroc was seen as a starter by me. I love the fact that dusk lycanroc (who is called "Dorito Doggy") can learn thunder fang, which makes it able to go better against water types. Also, Dorito Doggo's happy hour combined with roto-prize money helped me gain a fortune after trainer battles.
Ground-I haven't had much experience with ground types at all, and I like all their designs, so I'm still figuring out this.
Fighting-Buzzwole. I like buzzwole because it's design is super silly and it helped me in battle royales.
Dark-Umbreon. I had an Umbreon in my sun team, nicknamed Lonliness. (after the creepy/feelspasta) While he didn't have the best stats, he was still pretty good and I also taught him toxic so he could badly poison the opponent and make them more vulnerable.
Ghost-Mimikyu. I love mimikyu because of how strong it is.
Psychic-Alakazam. I never used this pokemon but I really like its design and Mega evolution design. Too bad it only evolves from kadabra by trade.
Poison-Again, I haven't had much experience with poison types, and I haven't decided which one has the best design.
Steel-Magnezone. After my team lost to totem mimikyu, I looked up how to defeat it, and people said that the magnemite line was the best choice. So I went and raised a magnemite. It evolved into magneton, I gave it a steelium Z, then went to rematch mimikyu. It did really good, and its z-move defeated mimikyu with ease. Later it evolved into a magnezone and it is a very tough member of my sun team. All in all, I love magnezone because it helped me in my adventure
Bug-Butterfree. I like butterfree the same reason why you like beedrill, it was my first shiny.
Dragon-Noivern. I like its design a lot, and I really like the colors purple and black.
Flying-

I still have yet to breed/raise a competitive Talonflame... I unfortunately didn't do so back before Gale Wings was nerfed, so I couldn't abuse its Brave-Bird-Priority spamming. I did get to use one in my playthrough of X, and it was a very enjoyable team member to use. Said Talonflame was transferred all the way to Alola to help me hatch eggs with Flame Body.

Understandable, you tend to develop closer bonds with Pokemon that you happen to obtain Shinies of. (Example being my Beedrill segment)

I could not agree more. Raichu is my favorite Pokemon of all time, after all. You have fantastic taste for that one entry alone. :3

I loved the fact that the event Rockruff was breedable! It allowed me to breed a competitive Dusk Lycanroc, and I still remember waking myself up super early in the morning just so I could evolve it (I had Ultra Moon as well). And despite what other people may say, I love the fact that it's orange. (Though I'm definitely biased in that aspect)

Buzzwole's good in Battle Royales? Hmm... I'll definitely have to try that sometime.

Umbreon is such a good cleric/tank, I adore the Shiny one I bred for, and one in particular survived a Platinum Nuzlocke I did a year ago.

You know, if you want to train an Alakazam in Gen 7, I'd be more than happy to trade-evolve it for you. I've raised two Alakazams (one in a Yellow playthrough, another for competitive battling), and it's a very enjoyable Pokemon to use.

If you have another Grass type Pokemon you like, you could swap it out for Venusaur and put Venusaur as your favorite Poison type. (That's what I did mainly because I don't know of any Poison types I like more than Venusaur, and there are TONS of Grass types I like)

I'd love the chance to use a Magnezone in a playthrough... I'm having a lot of fun with the one I bred for (it even has an optimal Hidden Power and everything)

What a coincidence in terms of Butterfree being your first shiny! (As in both your and my first shinies were the weak early-game Kanto Bug types that evolve super fast)

Noivern is a Pokemon I've never used before. Would you recommend that I train one?

That was a wonderful journey through the regions :3 you have my fave starter (grass) and Alolan form (ice) and steel type and legendary dragon (reshiram) on this list so BIG props to you.

and I love the names you gave your Pokemon (and of course you won't forget your fave mascot and my fave fairy type who is an anti-Pikachu (and while you hate pikachu, I'm glad to see you are sensible enough not to act and think like that shaymin hater who reviewed 'Giratina and the sky warrior').

i honestly think the hatred from Venusaur comes from those charizard or blastoise fans who think 'flowers don't look intimidating', especially Charizard fans- nothing against them or charizard but a handful I've known to me are what Pikachu and Eevee  fanboys are to you (they bashed me for liking emboar and Meganium over charizard). The whole flowers not looking intimidating thing happens in the digimon fandom - lots of people I know bash lilliemon for being easily defeated by Myotismon in the first Adventure series (at least she becomes Rosemon in Tri- one of my fave Megas next to Sakuyamon, Gallantmon and Holydramon)

(sees reasons why you love reshiram and how you feel for Raichu) you know, I have a similar experience with the CN fandom (mainly in the 90s or early 2000s- where I was really in tune with watching the shows.)  While I don't hate Bubbles from PPG 1998 like you do pikachu (I actually relate to her love of animals), I always got annoyed that they had to give Buttercup the short end of the stick while let Bubbles be portrayed as this sensitive and cute little angel, even if she did somethings wrong. And my fave CN character of all time is (and will ALWAYS BE) actually Dexter from Dexter's lab. Sure he can be a egotistical jerk who at times deserves his karma, but honestly I felt the writers are way too harsh on him for being an uptight boy of logic as opposed to his 'cute' free-spirited sister (I don't hate Dee Dee btw- she can be funny and CAN teach him some common sense). And all the girls at school berated me for having Dexter as my fave CN character of all time as opposed to Bubbles (whom they all loved for being the cutest ppg)

(sees runner ups): and you've included some of my real faves as runner ups *hugs*
