hahaha an all-nighter filled with pain and strife no but seriously, just a whole lot of time and patience and reference pictures OTL

I did a really large detailed pencil sketch before hand with the help of a couple different references, and then did the painting in acrylic it was a pain in the ass, also I hate drawing rocks so I'm not sure what made me think this was a good idea tbh

And yep- its acrylic! On some pretty thick watercolor paper too so I ended up having to water the paint down a bit at times because it just dries so fast and is so thick. (God bless my tiny brushes though)

Cool! I have some acrylics, but haven't used them in ages ;v;
Ahhh, painting struggles OTL but, yes, I imagine tiny brushes being MEGA helpful ;w;

I hadn't used my acrylics in over a year either 'D
I'm much more comfortable with watercolor but that unfortunately takes longer because there are so many levels, etc.
With your digital painting style I'd think you'd like watercolors as well! (or maybe I am wrong, some people I talk to hate using watercolors pfft)

I haven't done much with painting at all, honestly ;v; not since like senior year of high school
I do remember watercolor involving a lot of stopping and starting and layers and frustration <'D
what I'd really like to try would be copics or similar alcohol-based markers, so you can get the paint-y look but with much less fuss or muss uwu

haha yeahh, well it definitely took awhile! And the original size is about 11x18in so the details are a little compressed (I had a pretty large area to work on)

I love snakes and all kinds of reptiles (especially my turtles, they are my babies) so I am a bit biased, but I'm glad to know that you can still enjoy the painting :')

Wow, now that's cool to think that there are even more details I can't see as well!

I'm more of a cat person but I have plenty of friends and family members who are just like you. I find turtles adorable as well (even the word turtle is just so cute on its own ;m; )!! I just can't hold one, as I get very afraid of them when they're up close. X'D

Of course I enjoy the painting! You're v talented and I have mad respect for someone who can paint something as cool as that.

Pfft I meant the first thing as in the small details aren't so small in the real picture. (like when you draw a picture on a huge canvas so that when you shrink it down you don't see all the mistakes- thats basically what this is xD)

Yeah, reptiles are definitely not everyone's thing 'D
Though to be fair I adore pretty much EVERY animal
