Does mutate April look like a cheetah,a leapord,a jaguar,or another wild cat that has spots.

Well, the very nice image in my scraps is a picture of the toy [link] but the instructions claimed she came into contact with a leopard cub.
I cheated when I did a homage to the the instruction sheet by opting for ginger cat, partly to get closer to "Catwoman of Channel Six" [link]

So will Solone draw mutant April as a mutant ginger cat or a leopard?

You'd have to ask him, but based on what we've seen so far he's clearing working off the episode so a generic cat is what I'd assume.

pity the boxart vastly outshines the toy, which, to accomodate all the transformation gimmicks, ends up looking like a linebacker in a banana costume with a laptop tied to its back.

True, but that's pretty much the limitations of the day. Compare Transformers toys then and now for example, in the unlikely possibility Playmates wanted to revisit the concept.

I suppose, but this, even the 80's managed rather well-done transformable humanoids - this was 1993. Nearly a decade-and-a-half. Bit disappointing for the timeframe.

Well, arguably only Hasbro had the experience, where Playmates didn't

True enough, I suppose - I'd briefly forgotten they were the ones who made it.

Tell me about it, seeing it at Werecreatures practically sold me on having to find this toy
