There's no rest for the blue and the quick; almost as soon as Sonic is done seeing Eggman locked up in jail after the events of Sonic Holograph, he's approached by a mysterious woman named Amelia who cryptically remarked about him having a 'legend to fulfil'. Without giving him much choice in the matter, she whisked him away to the ancient past of Planet Eden and set him about on a new adventure.

This time, Sonic's armed with the Keris - a sacred weapon of incredible power that's brimming with holy magic. It's true name, Anya, begrudgingly allows Sonic to wield her so that she may see the current state of the world and get back at the cheeky shark that insulted her edge. With the two of them operating out of Ninjin Village, Sonic begins taking up Quests to take out notable corrupted individuals in hopes that they'll lead him towards the truth behind what's going on...

Trivia:
- Sonic's gauntlets mostly leather this time around, and he gets given a second one to match the one he finds with Anya by Ms. Usada. The plating the back of said gauntlets are inscribed with a magical symbol that enchants their durability and makes them as strong as any plate-mail.

- Sonic's swordplay skills return from Sonic and the Black Knight, though this time he'll also be able to use alternate fighting styles such as a more traditional brawler stance that allows Sonic to use regular punches, kicks and the Homing Attack.
