Description It's inoffensive, if you catch it you will only get fractal fever... and I guess you already have it anyway!

HIV, a sexually transmitted fractal.

Nice flame. I recommend sharpening it in post to give it more zing.

I have tried to sharpen it but the red spikes on the body look very blocky and absolutely horrible when sharpened... I guess this is because of the saturated red, I always have problems with red and sharpen (I'm using PS). If you have a solution it's welcome... and anyway thanks for your comment!

I see what you mean: the spikes get splotchy as they fade. I don't think it has anything to do with the color.

My guess is that your Quality setting isn't high enough. 1000 should do the trick.

Otherwise, I have also had problems in the past with rendering in the .jpg format. I recommend rendering in .png and then converting it to .jpg at the end for display here. The .png format is lossless so it's crystal clear and won't deteriorate at all when you do postwork.

I render much larger (usually 4x) than the size I ultimately want, then resize and sharpen.

The quality is 2000, but you're right, a higher resolution and .png image format could do the trick (I render most of my fractals at 4x too, but not this one, I didn't anticipate the "red spikes trap")!

Maybe I'll try to do a new rendering when I have some time, but I have a lot of other things in the pipeline right now...

Thanks for your time and help!
