Description
PLEASE CLICK THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON ON THE LEFT TO DOWNLOAD THIS TUTORIAL IN ADOBE PDF FORMATThis tutorial explains how to set up front and side reference plates (usually from 2d model sheets) for use in Maya (using photoshop). If you are savvy in other applications, you will probably still be able to follow the tutorial, it goes over the basic concepts.
The main benifit of doing it this way is that you don't have to turn on high quality rendering, which will make your application chug.
This tutorial has not been trialed yet, so let me know if any of it needs work.
Hope you find it useful!

i just read through it, seems excellent to me, im only a beginner in maya and i could follow everything you mentioned and the screen caps were helpful, in two weeks time i start a huge 3month 3D project and this is going to be really helpful! (since im learning it on my own) if you dont get too much of a response for this i wouldnt take it personally i feel like there is not a lot of maya stuff on here, im sure people use it but they dont seem to mention it as much as 3dmax and cinema 4d (i could be wrong its just a feeling)
erm im gonna be cheeky but you put up a UV mapping grid today too (also very helpful) and i was wondering if you could gimme some maya UV mapping pointers, ive been trying all week and i cant seem to really texture anything correctly, even if you could point me to good tutorial online that would be awesome!
