did some testing on my design for Princess Luna because she and Celestia have gotten almost no attention in my universe
i think the second one is what i'm sticking with
i don't want to deviate too far from her original design. i kept some of the basic elements. night is simple and peaceful, and i wanted to translate that into her. dark and mysterious, but still beautiful.
despite what the eyes may be telling you, she is NOT blind. her lightning-esque scars, gray eyes, and scarred horn are the result of getting a face full of elemental magic. the Elements of Harmony leave scars on those they've been used on. they're rather easy to hide, but Luna doesn't go through much trouble in hiding hers. poor Woona got blasted straight to the face with the elements, so many of her scars stem from her forehead and her shoulders. they emit magic when she uses it.
she also has a unique element: her horn.
I have an oc who has a similar horn, and I liked the design so much that I put it on Luna here because of the similarities it shares to a moon. alongside it is a diagram of her 'halo', which changes depending on the phase and color of the moon.
she's a very lovely mare. shy, tranquil, quiet, observant. she's very out of touch with the world, and speaks in a much older dialect, using terms like 'thou' and 'thee'. she's slowly adjusting to modern linguistics, though she still curses in Ancient Ponish out of habit. since retiring, she's been travelling all over the world with her sister, Celestia. Canterlot is still her home, however. she always returns back to it. she also spends a lot of time in the Changeling kingdom, visiting Thorax alongside her husband, Pharnyx. she's been learning the language and routines of the Changelings, and has written several reports to publish in Canterlot to aid the public in learning more about them. she still manages the moon and the dreams of her citizens, aided by her son, Firefly. Luna and Firefly have been working together with various other royals to help repair the Castle of the Twin Sisters.
