Description
This is a very small acrylic painting, (approximately 2 X 3 inches). It was painted with very small brushes and a retouchers airbrush (a Paashe model AB), on a great illustration board, CS-10, which used to be manufactured by an English company called Frisk, but (sadly) has now been discontinued. (Arrrgh!!). It's a tight, fun little piece that has a moderate amount of scratchwork on it. The durability of that particular board was what made it so nice to work with. The highlights on the hooks were created with that technique.What can I say about being moved to paint this, except... The Devil (and some very fond memories of fishing with my Dad and Brothers), made me do it. I don't think I ever caught more weeds with a lure than I did with these types, a snake Northern every once in a while too.

wow...that's really awesome! I love the darks and lights on the hook, and the simple background/shadow work really well to play that up - the red and white at the top frame things really well too, plus I love close-ups

cripes, the only way i noticed that this wasn't a photo was the white ring. yeah, this is really really well done. i love how you got the light reflecting off the metal.

Thanks very much for the praise, but if you check out how screwy the shafts on the hooks are up towards the chrome ring you'll see how off my layout was. Looks like an M>C> Escher thing goin on. It would have to be a fairly defective lure to have that angle I ended up with. But I was too far into it when I realized what I was doing, so I just kept going. If you'd like to purchase the original, I still have it, then you'll know for certain.
