Description
A quick walkthrough on one of my planets, using photoshop and a 3d program. It won't help you if you are new to the whloe materia, it should just give you an idea on how i work.
Shouldn't be a prolbelm for those, who understand the basics.

Can I ask you how to deal with the polar?you know, the 2 polars lack of details when a sphere map is projected onto a 2d surface, like the world map(Hope you can understand what I meant,my english is not very good eitherXD).

that is a little bit complicated. I'll try to explain it:
1. A new Layer
2. Make a circle in the center of the layer and fill it with a texture of how the pole should look like (i.e. ice)
3. use the filter distort->polar coordinates->polar to rectangular. Move it to the upper side of planet texture and blend it into the original texture.
4. repeat step 1-3, flip it vertically and use it as the lower pole.
I'm planning on writing a new tutorial for creating 3d planets with the 3d tools of Photoshop. I hope I'll find the time soon to make it

Whoa it helps me in some way, but I suggest you to make a quick explanation of how to get clouds in the 3d software render, as if you don't know I can help you, bu someone like you shoul already know it. Thank you!

Well, up till today I haven't found a way to include clouds into the render in a way, I like. My 3d skills are basic, so I add the clouds afterwards with PS, it's not much work and I get the effects I want.

Ahh, very helpful! I've been doing my planets 100% in PS, I hadn't thought of combining 3D and PS elements. I'm going to try this out on the weekend!
BTW: Your english is fine, the walkthrough makes perfect sense

I'm not quite happywith this walkthrough. It makes it look like I would do most of the planet in the 3d program.
But that's not true. I work
50% of the time on the textures
30% of the time on the Post-production
only 20% with 3d, mostly trial and error to find good lights.
