Oh my WORD I am jealous of your understanding of spaceships and how to draw them and make them look spacey and cool. Technology is my artistic bane. These looks super awesome! And what's this, your dragonsona with wings? Perhaps a previous incarnation before you decided on your entry's design?

Btw, in case you haven't taken a peek at the journal yet, you won the Steampunk Category.

I'm glad to hear that you liked my sketches. That one dragon sketch was indeed an earlier version of my dragon persona. I was quite happy with how the wings turned out. But, when I decided to go with the steampunk theme, the wings jusr seemed like a bit much.

Lol, I had to do a double take there. What do you mean I won? I had read the original post, so I thought that Lorien had won that category. (Which was completely understandable, since her entry was awesome.) Thanks for the heads up, that made my day!

The wings do look nice, but your final design looked excellent, so I see no problem with this decision. ^^

Yeah, there was a miscommunication! I contacted Cheeko immediately when I saw it and she got it fixed. Congrats! We'll have some titles figured out eventually and hopefully pick the overall winner soon. ^^

Oh wow, those are some really cool space-ships!
I dig that space-tower-with-4-legs!

Thanks, coming up with ship designs is something I really enjoy doing. I'm glad you liked them.

You know, looking at these ships, it suddenly occurred to me; most of them are mostly catered for the battlefield. Is that right?
I mean, if we compare the Star Trek's wide, flat-ish ship with these ones, it's obvious that your ships have more maneuverability, especially in flying fast and avoiding shots.

There are a few battleships here, but most are actually frieghters, small cargo ships, and there are even a few mining vessels.

When I design ships I like to make them resemble actual sea fairing vessels you might find here on Earth. I think it makes them feel more plausible as a working vessel, and in my mythos, most ships are designed to land on water. (It's a lot cheaper than building massive parking lots for spaceships on land ) So, I suppose you could say I design them with practicality in mine. They are robust enough to take a beating, and nimble enough to out run whatever they can't handle... usually.

Oh... It does make sense! I guess that would make seaports a hub for both marine ships and space ships. (The sea would have all the space needed for all the ships to land there, wouldn't it?)

But wait. With advanced technology now, would solely-marine/air ships still exist? For some reason, I can imagine that the space ships could do both marine/air travels now.

Absolutely, boats and conventional aircraft would still be around in one form or another. There would still be a use for things like fishing or short flights from one place to another. It's sort of like how trains didn't become obsolete when the automobile was invented. They all serve different roles in unique industries.
