Description
A bit of a tester piece (because apparently I can't do proper test pieces and end up doing a complete piece insteadSo this is charcoal and chalk (the latter in pencil form, both hard and soft was used) on watercolour. I liked the transluscent effect on the ear as I drew, and although I possibly could have kept on layering until it was opaque I decided to go with it and aim for a more expressive effect...I had to hold back from adding too much detail in the bottom section! In fact I even had to get rid of one patch where I'd started drawing and found it was too much. I'm really pleased with how this turned out though, it was so much fun to do (even if I'm still not fully reconciled with watercolours yet).
The reference photo is from pixabay.com and can be found here . I've only recently discovered pixabay, but there seem to be a lot of great royalty-free photos on there - definitely worth checking out if you need references

That psychedelic rabbit just experienced ego death and is now flying into the void! lol Seriously though, fantastic line-work and color. Beautiful!

Thanks! It was the ear which drew me to the reference so I wanted to make it stand out

Yes the yellow nebula or galaxy back-lighting the ear was a wonderful touch, overall this is a great piece.

Thanks so much! I wanted to bring a bit of interest to the background and balance out the whole piece. I'm pleased to hear it worked well

Super! Pleased to find the backstory-how-it-happened already there. Was going to ask but now don't have to. Looks like you had fun, and that's great.

I often wonder if I write too much in the artists comment so it's nice to know someone appreciates it Thanks so much! I still found the watercolour part a challenge but overall it was pretty fun to do
