I painted this on a magnetic canvas memo board for my Gran for Christmas - we had our 'Christmas Day' yesterday so she's now seen it and it can be unveiled here
You may remember Spot from a previous painting I did for my Gran. This time she's in her favourite spot - the tractor she seems to have claimed as her own!
I tried a few new things here - following my reading on colour theory I made the base layer blue and orange in an attempt to make the colours on top 'pop'. I also painted it all in tones of grey following the grisaille method so that I could concentrate on getting the values and details correct without having to worry about colour. I then glazed the colours over the top (there's a link to the process at the bottom of this comment).
It came out differently to how I was envisaging at the beginning, but I don't think it's bad...just different. It's almost sepia toned, which wasn't what I was aiming for but I'll go with it!
I'm just pleased the tractor looks like a tractor as I've not painted or drawn anything like that before.She seemed pleased with it, which is nice
