I sketched some of the Stamets' scenes from ep #7 from Star Trek Discovery, put them together, practiced some lineart and then some limited colour palette. I had fun with it.References: screenshots from the Episode "Magic to make the sanest man go mad"

Es ist schon ziemlich cool, wie scheinbar Mühelos du zwischen den beiden Stilen "Painting" und "Line-Art" umherspringen kannst. Mir gefällt diese Zusammenstellung jedenfalls recht gut. Die kleineren Zeichnungen überzeugen total (vor allem die beiden mit Stamets und Burnham gefallen mir). Das größere Portrait würde vielleicht von etwas dickeren Außenlinien profitieren, einfach, damit es sich etwas von den anderen abhebt. Sicher bin ich mir aber nicht. Müsste man ausprobieren. Die Schatten sind auch sehr gut. Was mir aber besonders gefällt ist, dass du hier mit etwas helleren Farben gespielt hast. Vor allem bei den Uniformen und den anderen Charakteren kommt das gut. (bei Stamets bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob man den überhaupt noch heller zeichnen kann, ohne eine Glühbirne abzubilden

Ich wollte hier mal wieder ein der limitierten Paletten ausprobieren. Von der Challenge damals habe ich da noch die Dateien mit x verschiedenen Kombis. Ich musste allerdings noch die ganz helle Gelb für die Haare hinzufügen, sonst hätte ich nicht genügend Farben für die Glühbirne gehabt .
Das war die einzige Episode, in der Stamets im Mittelpunkt stand, und ich habe da etliche Szenen skizziert und mir dann gedacht, ob ich die nicht einfach alle um ein großes Gesicht in der Mitte herum zu einem Bild packen könnte. Ich fand, das ging ganz gut. Und es hat Spaß gemacht.
Ach ja ... wegen der Frage in einem anderen Kommentar: ja, Anthony Rapp hat hellblonde Augenbrauen und Wimpern. Das ist ein Aspekt, der mich sehr fasziniert. Wenn ich nicht im Hinterkopf hätte, dass meine Sachen ja auch andere interessieren sollten, würde ich ihn ohne Ende malen.

Hm. Ich meine zu wissen, dass der Darsteller auf Twitter oder so tatsächlich Albino-Kid heißt (oder war das ein RL-Spitzname? Ich weiß es nicht mehr). Ist er tatsächlich ein Albino? Ist auf jeden Fall optisch hervorstechend und damit in meinen Augen positiv.

Na da werde ich dir jetzt aber gerne Mut zusprechen einfach das zu zeichnen, worauf du lust hast. Was andere sagen und denken kann und sollte dir egal sein. Die paar Favs sind es nicht wert sich nach anderen zu richten.

Ja, albinokid ist sein Name auf Twitter und Instagram. Eigentlich ist er ein sehr heller Rothaariger, aber das scheint mit den Jahren ausgebleicht zu sein. (oder er färbt die Haare?)

I'm so happy, you like it! I'm not often doing this, cause it takes so much longer than the usual oil brush paintings. But I really like the comic style outcome. Perphaps if I practice more with this technique I can somehow speed the process up.
The expressions were the reason I went for this special episode. It's a tour the force for this character and actor, since Harry Mudd takes over the ship with repetitive 30 minutes time jumps. Stamets' the only one who realizes that and gets more and more disheveled and frustrated with each time jump, while he tries to convince the rest of the crew that they have to do something.

Oh yes! I searched youtube for Wilson Cruz singing and I found exactly 2 videos. I thought there would be much more considering how much he likes singing and what a wonderful voice he's got.

I wouldn't let them get to you. I get flack in the Harry Potter/Stargate SG1 community all the time for not writing military structure right and some that complain about it being good but not liking that i twill have slash. Or this time when I got trolled on reddit for posting a link to a paper about how steven unvierse is an artifact of queer representation. People will be dicks, I just ignore them and do my do anyway, lol. If you like doing Stamets/Culmets fanart then that's you doing your do and not doing what other people say you should do.

Ooo I really like the style of these. It feels like a published modern Trek comic book. And aww that dancing scene! That was such a bittersweet moment. You've captured everyone so well here and I especially like how you drew Tilly.

I love trying those limited colour palettes from time to time. Those are colours I would never chose on my own. As it is, I still go for the more harmonic palettes, but some day I'd like to work with a more funny one (on a much smaller lineart that is. This one was a bit too much
