I've never seen that film, but in this case it represents the Willamette River, which bisects the city into east and west.

Ah, curse my ignorance. There's a Willamette in the zombie video game "Dead Rising", so I thought maybe it was a tip of the hat to the game. It looks like I need to brush up on my geography.

I checked on this when I got the game. That Willamette is in Colorado. If I remember right, they even said it wrong (le scoff).
