love the palette on this, the moody grays contrasts very well with the red orange highlights especially on his chin, nose, and eyebrowΒ
what made you choose these colors?Β

Thank you! I painted it in greyscale first, then i colored it in layers. Used a slightly yellow tint for the highlits and and a muted bluish/green for the midtones in order to have a colorcontrast to avoid having the piece be too flat. Then i actually adjusted the value of the blacks to go a bit red, but it's difficult to see unless you put actual black next to it. Lastly i added the orange/red just to spice it up a bit, it works well against the cold colors and it gives the piece an edgier look i think.

I see, maybe I should try that sometime myself but I mostly draw flat, 2D cartoons for my webcomic hahaΒ
I haven't dabbled too much with digital painting 3D styleΒ
