Description
Just fixing it up more... I hope I don't have to do anything else to this thing.I can't draw, so there!
god I swear, this piece just isn't going anywhere. More blur less blur blah! I don't care anymore, this piece is dead.
for the Marvel vs Capcom 2 drawoff.

This is amazing. I've always loved Street Fighter, XMen, Capcom and everything related. The effect on this is good, it needs no changing.
It looks awesome how it is, well done!

I love this! Your colouring style is so painterly and way beyond my capacity. The blur is just right. You haven't lost detail, just created depth and movement. The perspective is spot on and the way you handle metallics is perfect. You can't draw? Talk about self esteem issues. You're bloody brilliant!

Awesome. This is the definitive picture for juggernaut man, two colossal arms with a tiny head/lump/face in the middle. perspective's great too

what do you use to get the blur? is it select the area and apply motion blur?

it would help! ive noticed its similar to the snk character illustrations thats why i wondered if you had learnt a certain way.It look s like you have smudged and locked layer transparency to add detail but im probably wrong

good question, For this piece I used three seperate blurs. They are all radial blurs.
First I select the area that I want to be blur, I don't have to be exact, I just need to select more then enough of that area.
Then I press "Ctrl+Shift+C" which will copy all visible layers. Next just past by pressing "Ctrl+V" right in that same selection.
A new layer will be created.
Go to filter blur, Radial Blur and play with it to get what you want. Next Press the mask button located on the bottom of the layers palette. It's to the right of the "F" button.
fill the mask with black by dumping black into the piece. This will make the blurs go away, Now use white to paint in where you would like the blurs to appear, and then move onto the next blurs.
Simple stuff, and very easy.
Hope that helps.

Hey Dan would you use radial blur just for motion, what would you use for say depth of field blur??

well for example im doing a portrait for someone and i wanted to add a little blur to parts of the hair, like the effect you would get from a depth of field blur,i.e the face is in focus where the rest is slightly blurred. Would a radial blur look wrong on a non moving image? I hope it makes sense.

Try this, do a gaussian blur.
But first select the whole piece, "ctrl+Shift+C" Copy all layers then "Ctrl+V" To paste it on top of everything.
Then Gaussian blur that new layer
Next press the mask button on your layer palette, and fill in the mask with black to mask everything away, now use white and brush in the areas you want blurred.
Do this step again only this time with either a more blurred image or less blurred in the areas that you want as such.
Let me know ifthat makes sense.
