If you didn't know so, knuckles is my favorite sonic character. I thought it was about time I drew him.
Well, I wanted something with space, but also something with foliage, which I need practice on since i never do it. I tried some new layer effects with the grass and the tree. I really Really like how this turned out. So much color to play with.
Well, this is my little tribute to Meteor Herd (yes i know it looks like Mad Space here, but they're technically the same place.) Best part was climbing to the top and drill diving down to the bottom 5 minutes later.
But in all honesty, I drew Knux on his own little private planetoid because, admit it, you'd want one too.

PS: earth texture was from GIS and i spherized it to a planet. I'll upload a tutorial soon. Credit for the mapping goes to NASA

This is truly mind-blowing and incredibly outstanding! Seeing Knuckles on his little planet wearing his sunglasses over his head, having one of the Emerald shards and give that cool smile are just so excitingly awesome!
I really love the colouring, the shadings and highlights, the effects with the glows, including on Knuckles' eyes, and the lens flare, the tiny details with the satrs and the background with the realistic planet Earth glowing! Perfect, accurate and professional! I applaud you!

There are too many words to describe how awesome this picture is. You really captured the essence of the SAB2 game, especially the MeteorHerd level. I do agree that the added foliage is a nice touch, especially the palm tree. It's like bringing all the levels of the game into one picture. It also gives a bit of an outside view from the Sonic universe, that there is life out there and that planets once had livable conditions. Though that may just be me reading too much into things lol. Also a nice touch with the antennas. Makes the meteor look more like a satellite and planet mixed together There are quite a few other things I like about this picture. Nicely done using only 3 emerald shards for the picture. Really keeps with the "Finding 3 emeralds a stage" theme. The background is well done. You really captured a picture of earth from space. The sun rising the horizon and dusk on the other half of the planet as well as the lighting coming off the meteor and Knuckles. Excellent work.
Now there are a few things I would like to say that might help so I hope you find these useful. Overall, the lighting is well proportioned. However, with the emerald shards, it seems like some are glowing more than the others. Maybe next time when using glowing objects, imagine a sphere around the object and try and project where the light might go and hit other objects. I kinda feel Knuckles should have more glowing green on him. Moving onto the environment. The meteor and meteorites look well synced with each other. Though perhaps having the meteorites positioned as if they circling around the meteorite will add more the space environment. Other than these, I can't think of anything else to offer. Very well drawn and thought of. I look forward to seeing more works like this and critiquing more as well ^^

Argh! I always hated that level because the meteors were such jerks to me (Got hit by 3 in a row once!) but I also really loved this level cause of the boss battle right after it!

Sweet design on the space theme and I've always loved that theme. I got to give some serious consideration into doing characters at smaller scales. Love how you did the grass and uh-oh, now there's master emerald corn lol. Nice job as always Syron. Sorry if I'm not a critic towards this today, my creativity's been pretty dull lately.

I have to ask though... were you planning on adding ole' Knux's advanced gear? His X-ray glasses, breath mask, hammer gloves, etc.? Did you forget or just not intend to at all?

you're probably right, but I can't help but think Knux with all his gear, or even a homemade improvement on his gear might be cool.
Those hammer gloves he had looked so bulky... I'd think he'd have like... black metal gauntlets and bracers with spikes to match his knuckles.
