Almost one year has passed since the Morphship, and I think it’s safe to assume I’ve somewhat improved my spriting skills.

The following sprite was made for a contest, where you had to sprite a giant boss in 32bit Metroid style; I tried Metroid Zero Mission’s one (GBA).

This repulsive being is nicknamed Pyukktre, the Power-bomb Guardian. For those who are familiar with the Metroid franchise, you have a good idea of how dangerous this boss could be considered the weapon it would use.

Sprtie-wise: since it was my first try at this style, I had some serious issue with the palette management, and I had to cheat to use all the colours I wanted. Basically, the entire sprite is scratch, with the exception of the metallic part which was stolen and heavily edited. The pincers were rotated on GIMP (with the interpolation deactivated) to give a more arcade-look to the final product.

The sprite-sheet can be found here: [link]

Well, it was originally posted on Sprites.INC (the forum, not the site itself), so that may be where...?

Thanks by the way!

no prob! I've liked how it turned out for a pretty long time, I wanted to do just as good if not better then sheets like those when I first started spriting I have been practicing spriting for a year or so and I keep getting better and better (less pillow shading, better pallets, etc...) btw.. will you make another metroid related something in the near future?

Well, I can’t say that I won’t, because I’ve nothing against the idea... but I also can’t say that I will, because for now my studies are taking a lot of my free time. Anyway, good luck and keep improving your (artistic) skills!
