Description
"Beyond the Fields of Asphodel,where the souls wander in sorrow,
beyond the Acheron waters,
there I will wait for your return.
I walk away around shadows,
listening moans of pain and despair,
but the voices of thousand ghouls
will not ease your memory in my head.
And now that leaves fall around Earth,
a golden carpet will lead you to me.
And with the cold wind of the winter,
six pomegranate seeds do their duty.
Here, deep in the Underworld
you will find our ebony throne,
and your voice of promises and whishes
will bring life to the eternal dreamers."
My own version of Hades & Persephone. In the picture I portrayed they both, with Cerberus. At the left we can see Charon in his boat and the river Acheron, and in the other side the river Phlegethon, made of fire.

Beautiful! I've always liked the myth of Hades and Persephone, it's neat to see different versions of it. I like how you added the flowers in her hair, and the grass growing where she walks.

oddly enough...if I went only on their gazes... I would think Persephone was Hades, and Hades Persephone... she looks like she's in total control, with the guy submitting to her every whim.

Hades's outfit has a convienently placed sword-type accessory, which consequently makes me enjoy this piece even more. Really great, beautiful work.

My only critique of this amazing picture is that where Persephone's eyes and face have a bright quality to them, as if she really was alive, Hades' face is just dead. Even dark or dead characters should be portrayed with life in their eyes, it makes you want to look at them. Otherwise he just seems like part of the background (which is magnificent by the way). I think you want him to be more of the center of attention, like Persephone. However, that is strictly my opinion. Beautiful coloration and attention to detail.

Amazingly (and creepy) enough, the first thing I thought when I looked at the woman was "Huh. She would make a great Persephone".
Greek mythology has always interested me, and the story of Hades and Persephone always intrigued me the most.

Beautiful. The boy`s eyes look a little dazed but the flames, the anatomy, the lighting and setting... it`s all so perfect and deep. The wolfish ceberus (sp?) is a great touch.

I agree Hades looks a little young, but then gods are immortal. Maybe a beard would have helped because of the depictions of ancient greek gods (except for Appollo anyway). But I love how Persephone is wearing flowers, that does suit her very well. And he looks at her like he can't keep his eyes off her, of course he has to miss her for half of the year every time.

Apollo who is the ideal of male youth doesn't have a beard, but he is masculine none the less. I think it's the jaw and cheeks what makes a face look more or less mature.

Amazing! Hades looks so innocent in this picture, but then again if you ignore the whole kidnapping thing Persephone does bring out his better qualities.
