I dont do scripting well, so the text was a pain, especially as I had to redo it several times because I kept painting over it

Thank you, I am working on a show featuring paintings of women and how their body image, sexuality and sensuality has been affected by religious messages. The crucifix piece is also part of this body of work as is my self portrait that is a WIP in my gallery now. I have a tryptych planned and three additional pieces as well for this theme.

Thank you... she just sorta emerged from the background text and then said stop painting me now.. for the first time I actually listened to a piece of art and stopped

Ah, I haven't hit that stage yet. I always either take it one step too far or stop short. Maybe I need to listen harder
She's gorgeous though, I mentioned the lights in her skin because that's what keeps drawing me back in

Thank you again... I try to stop a piece before I think its done and let it sit for awhile. Often times I never go back to it... I just decide its fine the way it is.

nice work, i like the oppressive atmosphere and moody color scheme...it's as if the words have been haunting her for a long time, and the fact that they are as disjointed and cryptic as the thought process itself lends the overall effect of discomfort that i just can't define.

Yeah it was working for me unfinished like this in a weird juxtaposition of the text floating in an out of the body that I decided to listen to my instincts for once and not overwork it
Thanks for the feedback on it! Its always great to hear someone elses interpretation Yours sounds much deeper then mine

Wow, this is one of those pieces that is really hard to look away from. Your composition is very well chosen. Also, you say it was your first attempt at incorporating text into an image...... a fine first attempt I must say, every element seems to fit, and nothing seems out of place. A +!!

impressive piece. those hard strox are dictating such a load of pressure that it has become UN BARE ABLE!!!!
In contrast the soft tones on the skin while being so fragile are a grea complement to the blendings on the left arm and hair where your subject RESOLVES into the atmosphere whike shae bares the whole stress. I like this piece allot. keep it up!!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful critique... Im not sure where this piece is going yet or if its done. I sometimes think I should take this further but Im afraid of overworking it and losing what impact it has.

PSYXXARTS In reply to Darkdesyre [2008-01-22 01:27:50 +0000 UTC]
well that very struggle seems to be very much aparent in the piece. Expressive, we shall call it. so I'dd say just leave it be. Make a print or something on an art paper and keep working on that one. that way you will save your original brilliance in it's current condition over doing is always an EVIL thing.

Thats a great idea... my sense is to leave it be. Thats why its been in my studio for over a year now untouched... but there is always the thought that I could take it further. I might just start a new one in a similar manner and see what happens with it.

PSYXXARTS In reply to Darkdesyre [2008-01-22 16:14:37 +0000 UTC]
that is also a great idea. I am sure it is gonna be fun.
For me any time Istart drawing with traditional media I feel great. I like to get physical! it is like when I stepped into my gim as a teen or later on when ever we headed to mountains to do some climbing over night.
some sorta fetish I would say. so I wish you lots of fun with it. can't wait to see the results.

This was actually a college project that took on a life of its own.. was supposed to be just a painting with text but I added the figure later and liked it.
