Description 'Bout time I made one of these (well, I've made one before, but it was like a year ago). Some people were asking about how I did style 2 and 3, so I was all like "yo yo mofoz, darkz in da hi-zouse, here fo' yo emoting needs foo'". Then I imploded for saying such a retarded sentence.

Please ignore the typos. D: I KNOW THEY"RE THERE....TAUNTING ME O_O

BY THE WAY.... here's a tutorial on the very simple basics [link] if you don't know how to use programs or something

yeah, I'm still experimenting with the second style, it looks cool but the contrast takes away from the emote >_>

Yeah, that's what I was feeling. I guess though it forces viewers to concentrate harder to see the expressions

darkmoon3636 In reply to jforged [2006-03-13 21:00:51 +0000 UTC]

I use Ulead Gif Animator 5
:] though this tutorial will work with any graphics program for the first two, and any that supports partial transparency for the third.

Nice, I'm gonna try out that third way sometime, I never tried it before. I usually use the style to the left.

That's one good tutorial. I use PSP 7 to do my attempt at emoticons and I'm not good at shading those emotes. Is there a way that I can do it properly under PSP 7?

darkmoon3636 In reply to ppgrainbow [2006-03-13 21:06:20 +0000 UTC]

you should be able to this tutorial works for any graphics program

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to darkmoon3636 [2006-03-13 22:06:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah...but somehow with PSP 7, I'll try to learn things...sadly, it appears that learning to shade circles the hard way.

darkmoon3636 In reply to ppgrainbow [2006-03-13 22:17:29 +0000 UTC]

hmm...I don't have any experience with PSP 7 D: just make sure you have your 1px brush with maximum hardness and no opacity

You should make more tutorials, like how you make your emo's animated.
(running, jumping and stuff like that.)

So thanks for the helfpful tutorial.

mysteriouschicken [2006-03-13 09:58:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh yay. I made one in style one It's a much nicer look than the kind of shading I'd been doing before.. I'll have to remember the technique and use it in the future. But not using the exact same base..
I'll try style three when I get home and have a program with transparency

ShadowGamers In reply to ??? [2006-03-13 07:10:44 +0000 UTC]

I liked your old base better, the new one seems more like a job for the dodgetool and the dark around the edges of the emoticons is really hard against the light middle...
