Description Pretty simple, really.

I had never played much with Bryce's lighting until posted a graphic mentioning a problem with volume lighting.

Anyway, this should both answer the queries about the lights on Dortmunder's Delusion and provide folk who aren't playing with volume a reason to do so.

LOVE IT!

There is now a film section to DEVIANT im going to start uploading my renders to it now ... Just have to wait for an answer from the devs about uploading 1080p hi definition video.

You should mention that volume light used in a scene (not alone) really increase the render time. It's beautiful but it's in the "cpu-hungry" category. (as well as IBL and DOF)

It depends greatly on the scene.

In Dortmunder's Delusion (the reason for the tutorial) the total render time was less than 5 minutes on a 1.6ghz, 1.5mb Gateway laptop.

That said, I do not use volumetric world in land or seascapes due to the time constraints.

I suppose it'd be logical as well to point out that Bryce will background render, so you can use your computer to surf while it renders.

In Delusion, there's only the background behind the rays of light (the same scene in a forest, with the rays going through the leaves would be much longer )

Yes exactly, everybody should learn to turn down the process priority during the renders.
(I have a quad core and 2 bryces rendering an animation frame by frame in bground for the last 3 month, still 3weeks until the end )
